She was spayed 7/7/10 so we will start bonding after the 17th.  They had mini bonding session at the shelter.  It went OK. Both are submissive. After 15 minutes Shug mounted her head and we broke it up, but it went well for a first meeting.

She is skitish but I held her and she was calm.  Sugar is free range so there is no place in the house that didnot have his scent. we have them in seperate rooms but in slight visual contact.

you should wait at the least a month after the spay before bonding, 10 days is way to soon!

I agree, 10 days is too soon for her to be healed up totally and hormones to be gone. Give it a full month, to be safe.

We will wait a month... we wanted time for her to get used to us and get more socialized.  She came from a bad situation according to the shelter.  Thank you for the help.

I'm glad to hear she's already spayed, especially considered Sugar's "intact" state. Any word about that, if he'll be able to neutered at any point? If not, you may have a more difficult time bonding because of his hormones.

We took Shuggy for a second opinion today and this Vet thinks she found the coins that were missing from his purse.  So we need to get his bloodwork record transfered and schedule the neutering.

Ha... Cinnabun's future pictures.  We are getting Sugar neutered next week, now that a Nickel has been found.  This will give us time to continue to socialize Cinnabunny...  She came from a hoarding situation with alot of dogs.  She does not trust humans.  We have been working with her and she is getting better.  She took to litter training very well.  We have expanded her pen from 6 x 3 to 6 x 6 and so far she is doing well.  Sugarbear is such a cuddlebun it takes a lot of restraint to spend time with Cinny.  She needs 10 minutes to warm up to us being near and she'll let us pet her then.  Cinnabunny gets some exercise time upstairs and she behaves really well. It's just hard to corral her up to return her to her pen.   We will keep the two seperated untill Shuggy gets fixed, plus a month.  We will update the progress.

A week after Sugarbear's neutering he is getting more active and very persistantly looking at Cinnabun from across the house.  So we resituated Cinny's pen to allow them to hang out next to each other.  The meeting area can be blocked off when we are not supervising.  It has been very positive so far.

They like to follow each other back and forth in the little "hallway".

After a few minutes of checking each other out, Cinny started to run all over Binkying like crazy. Running around her pen.  Shug is not really a runner, and recovering from abdominal surgery, he watched her and walked allong the side he can get to with her.

We will wait another week or two before letting them hang out without a fence.   Cinnabun is getting more comfortable with us.  We want to bond with her a little more too, so the timing of Shuggys recovery works out well.
