        ..Ugh.

I am SO IRRITATED RIGHT NOW

So, I have an aunt. My dad’s brother’s wife. And she knows that I live in a house with my dad. The house that I live in is my grandparent’s house and the family is trying to sell it. We’ve had no luck so far. The roof is old (we are getting a new one today) and we’ve had no bids so far.

My dad had told my uncle that my bunny is in the FREAKING garage  for some reason, but in truth, she is in the LIVING ROOM. My dad wants to prevent conflict from happening. . . . because I think that my aunt does not like animals at all. She is one of those people that will get her way and her husband will take her side no matter if he feels the same or not.

Anyways, I saw my aunt during the NCAA tournament party they were hosting at their house. She asked me if I had moved my bunny into the garage (my bunny was put in the spare bedroom before the roof came down back in April, and before that, my room). I said “No.”

The 24th is when my dad and I will be having a garage sale with a BBQ. He invited my uncle and aunt.

And now my dad tells me this mroning (on the day of my bf’s birthday, wow) that my uncle thinks that MY BUNNY IS IN THE GARAGE  WHAT THE HECK?!?!?

My dad told me to tell her that for the garage sale, we moved the bunny into the living room (which is NOT TRUE at all!! She inhibits the living room!) and we are going to move her back  (which is not true at all)

My dad knows for a fact that my AUNT will become a big ***** about it and mention it. She is nosy and wants to know EVERYTHING.

My aunt thinks that having a pet in the house will prevent the selling of the house, and also, SHE HATES PETS IN GENERAL  She prevented my uncle from having a pet companion!!!! “You’ll want to take it everywhere!” BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!!

She thinks that pets leave odors, and A LOT of people think that pets leave odors when people leave the house to move.. Uh, I don’t smell anything from my bunnies cage.

        I am so.. angry!

Sorry you have to deal with this. I do think that it’s true that many times having the pet in the home while the home is being shown can have a negative effect on potential buyers (allergies, etc..). But I think the roof falling in that’s a bigger issue.

Not that I think you should move Chacha but I think that statement is unfortunately very true.

Anyway, vibes that you get the home sold soon so you don’t have to deal with this.

Try not to worry about it. It’s your bunny. Your house. You can keep her anywhere you want. You have your father’s permission, so what does it matter?

uugghh… you can pick your friends but not your family… so not fair sometimes.
I have a lot of rude words for grumpy old bags for her, but I will refrain.

Tell her what she wants to here, and no more. Just to not get into a comflict with the old bag, she’s not worth your time/stress. We know it’s non of her business, and your one house rabbit is not going to be a reason for a house not selling (Unless your rabbit is running loose and attacking potential buyers LOL, which would be kinda funny).

Now if I wanted to sell my house… lol… man that’d be interesting how to explain a basement full of rabbits and pens :p

I just spoke to Mimzy, and he’s of the opinion that humans smell bad, not bunnies.

It’s probably because it is a family home for sale…is there money going to be split that will go to her or your uncle if the house sells? People get nastier when they smell money.

Sorry to hear of your trouble, Brittany. I agree, it’s none of her business, but that’s what busybodys do…they get up in your face.
It’s okay to be angry, but save yourself some grief and shrug her off. You’re the bigger person for it. Not worth wasting the energy. As long as your dad is in Chacha’s corner at home, it doesn’t matter what he tells your aunt, as she can’t handle the truth obviously. *nods*

Yeah, our real estate agent said our house smelled like pee when we were getting ready to sell back in Oregon. I thought it smelled it hay. Maybe some folks can’t tell the difference. We put our buns in their night cages outside in a secure, sheltered location for the open house. Fortunately, the house sold in 48 hours. Then we loaded up and moved 2,500 miles east, with an arrangement to stay with friends until we bought a new house. However, when we got here, it turned out the friends didn’t understand the buns were meant to be indoors. We had no choice but to leave them in their cages under a deck for SEVEN WEEKS. The kids and I would spend all afternoon out there with the buns (the deck was 5 feet off the ground), doing homework and letting the buns stretch. Our bedroom window was next to the deck, and we slept with the window (and one eye) open the whole time. Between listening to our homesick children (aged 9 – 13 at the time) cry themselves to sleep, and watching our for predators, it was simply horrible. Hopefully, your dad will run interference with your aunt and stay on your side. I know it’s maddening, but the important thing is that Chacha is safe.

To Mimzy – From Chacha – I agwee. Da hoominz stinkz!! Good fing I wike to wick faces. I kwen the hoomins zat mommy bringws ofer. I twy not to offend as I kwen their faces! Tweehee!!

At first, I moved the bunny into the spare bedroom. There were lotsa people that came by, but NO BUYERS. That was in April. The bunny waas in the spare bedroom and the house was kept in good condition. However, I think that potential buyers saw that our roof was in bad shape. The rest of the neighborhoods roofs have already been redone. My grandpa put off doing the roof, and therefore left a big burden on his sons ..

When the roof came down in April, my dad and I agreed it was fine to put my bunny downstairs. Not only is the cooler for her, she gets the entire room to roam when I’m home, and I get to relax with her and watch tv (my dad said that it would be good for me to chill out and watch tv while I watch over her).

My aunt can’t get mad at me – my dad and I are hosting a family BBQ, and having a garage sale while it happens. Plus, I have to take Chacha to her follow up appointment in the morning.

I can see my dad’s case. Lying to keep their mouths shut. Lol.

My grandma said “the person that buys the house will be an animal lover.”

O_o She is a wise person and is almost always right.

Try not to worry about your aunt. If anything happens or is said, just let your dad deal with it. Much easier.

Ummm….so if the house is still in your grandparents’ names and they say it’s fine with having Chacha in the house, what you’re aunt thinks doesn’t matter. HAHA to her!!!!! LOL

I went to look at houses with my mom and I did wonder about the homes who had pets. There was only one who had an indoor dog. I just wondered about the carpeting smelling if it got damp. My last apartment was supposedly pet-free but I swear every time it rained and got damp in it, it smelled like wet dog. It took like 2 bottles of febreeze to get rid of the smell. lol But that’s all that occurred to me. I think rabbits can be more iffy because of them being known to be destructive. But I am sure if major repairs needed, then that’s what is holding up the sale of the house. Not necessarily Chacha. Cause really….how anyone not like bunnies? lol

Do you have any idea about what your future home will be like? Will you be moving far?

No, not really far from where I am already at

In fact, my dad and I did an apartment search after we put the house out for sale.

The apartment that my dad loved was the one that my mom and I were going to move into, but was too expensive for her.

The place is VERY spacious. It has a sunroom. My dad said “Your bunny can have that!” I told him that I’d have to put up curtains for her. I don’t want her to overheat. He knows that she doesn’t tear up furniture (she just likes to jump on it and chin the cushions), so he is going to let me bunny proof the living room.

Your dad sounds like a good man. He obviously loves Chacha as much as you do.
Hence why he feels no need to tell the aunt the truth.

Moving…BLECH. It’s always a hassle, no other way to slice that pie. *nods*

I agree!  That’s not always the case with dads… they’re not always bunny people… but I’m glad he likes Chacha…

Well, my dad loves animals. He knows that animals have feelings and is amazed that I taught a rabbit how to use a litter box. Lol. He is actually glad that I didn’t get a small cage for bunnies. Then again, I do not think rabbits should have small pet store cages ><

I’ve had a rabbit when I was little, but it was not my responsiblity. Not that I have one of my own that I look after, it is completely different.

Growing up, I had a lot of furry friends. I think my bunny interacted with the cats that I had as well. Lol.

Mimz – Moving to the house I currently live in was a hassle. It was very hard also, it was from the apartment my mom and I lived at to a house.

I bought all of my rabbit suppliees for Chacha before I even had her. My dad and boyfriend had to carry down the dog kennel I got for Chacha and my dad said “What is this?!?!?” My boyfriend said “A mansion for a dwarf rabbit.”

Moving is stressful but it is also kind of exciting, I would like to move… even though I have animals and it will make everything more complicated!
