I’m getting a baby bunny soon. I know this might sound a bit stupid or selfish, but I’ve posted a couple topics on her and have gotten a good amount of buzz. So Im gonna use this forum page or whatever its called to blog a bit on her. Pics, details, important events, I’m hoping I can keept this blog going for awhile! Why? Because I’ve finished my bun shopping, designing her cage is IMPOSSIBLE right now, and I have no money for shopping for her. Plus I’ve read and reread bunny related info, no ones responding to my forums anymore, and one can only stand so much time without doing something bun! So here are some things that have happened before now:

July 4th:  4-5 Baby Bunnies are Born.

July 5th: I see the babies, and know I must have one.

July 8th: I (finnally!) get my parents on board with getting a bun. One condition. I have to raise the $230 myself.

July 9th: After plucking and preening my list, and getting help from fellow Binky Bunnians, I realize that i have $100 worth of unneeded, useless items.

July 10th: I decide my buns name. Kyoshi!

And now, Today. I’ve never been so sick of drawing! Me and two friends just sat down and made 15 fliers for my bunny raising effort (I cant just whip $137 out of my pocket!) And I was on drawing duty. Afterwards though, we cooled down. I’m really happy with the fliers! Sure, they could be colored a bit better, but they will definetely help the Bunny Buddies earn money! (I named our group because after we earn enough money we are raising money for Save a Bunny! I am in BUNNY LOVE!) I’m posting them around tommorrow, so calls (hopefully) will be pouring in!

This is interesting.  So you made fliers and raised $ for Save a Bunny?     Did you get enuf to get a bun cage?

You know they aren’t that hard to make.

You can get a plywood cut whatever size.  Put tiles on it and nail boards to the side fo the bottom and get some nic cubes and put them together for the cage.

I really, really hate to rain on parade’s… but I have to ask if you’re going to have enough money to care for this bunny long-term. Does your quoted $230 include a vet visit and spay at 6 months old, as well as housing, cost of bunny, and regular supply of pellets, hay, veggies, and litter? Are your parents chipping in the other half to cover expenses? If you’re not working, it’s unrealistic of your parents to expect you to be able to raise that kind of money and cover the monthly costs, which can easily be $50 a month or more.

I am also concerned about you posted fliers with your personal info around town. You can never be too careful. And I have to admit, I doubt you’re going to have much luck in your money-raising efforts. It’s commendable that you want to donate some money to a rescue, but legitimate rescues are having difficulty getting donations in this economic climate. People are very choosy about where their (limited) money goes.

I’m only asking these questions because I’m concerned. Can you have your parents read over the BB cost page (below)? They need to realize that there is no way you can foot the bill entirely on your own. As long as you have their support, I’m sure you could do it, but you just need to be sure they realize what is involved.

First off (in reply to comment 1) Yes! I am making a cube condo! You may have seen my other posts.

Second, No I am not japanese . I am naming her after a avatar character.

Third, I’m sure my mom will chip in anything I forget or cant make. We gave only 1 thing out on our fliers, a phone number. My mom approved of it all as well. I know where to put it so that only SERIOUS costumers wil see it. As well as babysitting, I’m doing odd jobs like crazy! I think I can make it.

Sorry if i forgot anyone. I havent read through all the way.

Well, I factored in a couple things.  believe a spay around me will cost $70-100, But I also am getting insurane. Does anyone know if it covers that?

Have you called local rabbit vets to ask how much a spay costs? In my area, a spay is $280 not including pain meds or initial vet visit.

Pet insurance does not cover spay/neuter surgery. VPI has rabbit insurance and it is about $12 a month. The entire vet bill needs to be paid upfront, including insurance deductible, and then they reimburse some of the cost.

If you’re looking to start an actual blog then you might want to look at a site like blogger or blogspot. This is a forum, which means this thread is just one of a number of threads that will come and go and change position on the page etc. With an actual blog you can customize it to look how you want and have an actual URL that you can give to people so they can view it.

I’m not really wanting a blog. This is just a way for some people to see my progress and give me advice. I want ONLY binky bunnians to see this. But thanks for the suggestion.

Have you called your vet for costs of a spay/neuter, check ups? I think this “blog” is great! My parents did the samething when I was teenager (not for a bunny) to see how dedicated I really was! It showed them I would work hard for what i wanted & I was totally dedicated! Good for you, but raising money for your bunny I don’t agree with, unless you are working for it! (Just my opinion, but I would have probably tried that too, lol) Have you thaught of washing cars for it, or animal sitting, etc….

Yes. I live in an apartment complex, so I’m trying trash Collection. I have two neighborhoods surrounding me, all chock full of dog owners, so I’m dog walking as well. I am also doing “Kid Wrangling” which is basically where Me ad two friends go to a kid party and help the parents keep all the kids in check. I’m also trying sno cone stands(we’ve been in over 90*(couldnt find the degrees thing) F all week.), Car washing, bake sales, selling tye dye socks (Wierd I know, but It could be a hit), and babysitting. Hopefully i’ll raise enough!

Having a pets when you are young (not sure how old you are but assuming you are around a young teen) teaches responsibility, compasion & starts parental instincts, because you become a parent of the animal! I think it’s so great! You seem to have done a ton of research! And as I said above I know what your parents are trying to do for you, as long as they have done research as well & they know what’s involved!
