So I'm trying to find a few treats Zeus likes.  He doesn't like raisins or banana chips, and prefers greens over carrots, so I really don't have very many good 'treats' for him!

I have a small amount of alfalfa hay, and I gave him a tiny pinch of it this morning just to see if he'd eat it.  He did like it!   I wouldn't feed the alfalfa hay in any large amount (he gets plenty of grass hay), but I was wondering if giving him a pinch of the alfalfa now and then as a treat would be acceptable.

Oh yes, it's great as a treat! I think it's a better treat than fruits or raisins since there's no sugar in it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking.  Zeus doesn't seem to like any fruits anyways!

Has King Zeus tried Meadow Grass Hay? I gave some to my friend to give to her bunny and he LOVED it. My bunny loves it when I put some on top of her Orchard Grass Hay. She noms it immeditely!!

Not yet no!  He's got a mixed grass hay that is actually for horses that I feed.  It's clean and soft though so it works fine for buns too!

I use different legume hays (alfalfa, clover etc) as treats, too. Like Sarita said, it's better than sugary fruit!

i would be affraid that they wouldn't eat there other hay ass much or not?

what I sometimes do is use the alfalfa hay as hay 'sprinkles'. Just sprinkle a little alfalfa hay on top of their normal hay (or mix in a little). It helps to encourage hay eating.
