I tried to record how my four each like to be groomed by me. Neigey you already saw.

        Lint is very shy…

I had to catch him when he was sleeping

Mops likes cheek rubs but I noticed a strange thing: when I’m done with pets for him, he always has to dig at the ground quickly!

Deirdra is a little like Neigey, but not as relaxed still.

Mops needs some bobby pins to control all that long fur! He kind of reminds me of a hippy rabbit LOL.

I can see the Queen does love her grooming too.

I love seeing Lint all laid out looking so comfortable – that’s one of my favorite rabbit poses – Rabbit Repose.

            Wow, thanks!

You won’t believe what happened last night! I was scratching Lola between the ears, the only petting she really allows for a few seconds. Then I snuck my fingers down to her cheeks like at 44 seconds into Deirda’s video and starting rubbing her cheek and she fell over. Right over on her side, thought I had killed her…..lol

She loved it! Laid there as long as I would do it and even for a few minutes after I stopped, with her eyes closed, funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I was bringing my hand up to her from behind because I can’t bring myself to come from the front after she’s bitten me so many times (coward).

It’s really neat to learn how to properly pet them. I’ve always had my horse and cats and was trying to pet the bunnies the same way and obviously I needed training. I’ll be trying out the different ways on different bunnies tonight!

            My bunnies thank you.

I know this post was meant for Kralspace but I couldn’t help but be nosey and watch the videos. Hatter is just like your Dierdra! He loves to be petted and have his cheeks and ears massaged. When they lower their head to the ground is that just their body language of accepting the “grooming?” Hatter does this too and I wanted to make sure I’m not “offending” him!

Maybe she should rename the thread to “Petting Bunnies for Dummies”

I made the videos because krals asked me. But of course they are for everyone, not just dumnmies, LOL.

Lowering the head means they are accepting and enjoyong and asking for more grooms!

I am in no way implying that anyone is a dummy, I was just quoting ks.

I’m only calling myself a dummy….lol!!! I’ve very seldom been around anyone else with bunnies to see how they pet them and what they enjoy so I greatly appreciate the ‘visual aids’. My horse would freak if you got your hand around her eyes, it never crossed my mind that bunnies would like a hand rubbing all over their face like that, different species, different languages.

I did learn real quick not to touch them under the chin – ouch!

I’ll have to try that tonight and see if that happy flop was a fluke or not.

kralspace, that sounds wonderful that Lola was so accepting of pets! Fiver is VERY shy of any human contact and it’s taken me almost two years of having him to get him to accept a groom from me, his face and left rear flank are particularly sensitive subjects. (His ears used to be, but now he realizes I am not going to haul him around by them, so he LOVES his ear rubbies!)
I can’t come at him from behind, because I think he has miniature eyes in the back of his head somewhere and always sees me coming. He’ll spin around and snort at me for trying. Still..if I’m not careful and happen to bump his nose in an attempt to groom, he shakes his head at me fast and tries to whip my hands with his ear tips.
Mimzy and Pip will both come running for nose rubs. In fact, Her Majesty will not let me leave for at least 5 minutes from the time I begin…anything shorter is met with a grunt and more lowering of the head. And Mimzy expects each grooming to be completed with a treat (craisin, apd cookie, timothy treat, whatever…)
It’s so soothing to groom them. If I ever have a high blood pressure problem, I’ll know how to cure it!

P.S. Petzy…if you wake up one day and Mops is missing, I’ve bunnapped him. ^_^ lolz

lol Yes Kral  my buns hate chin touching too.  Ruby will grunt lunge and touch my hand with her teeth not hurting me.

Cotton jumps up when  I touch his chin.
