Anyone recently  travelled by air with a rabbit or know of someone that has?  This topic in FAQ is a bit dated now and airline policies change. Thought it might be good to gather some more recent information.  I found a page that lists airlines that allow rabbits in cabin or cargo but it’s good to hear of personal experiences. Dealing with airlines, all the things that needed to be in place before flying, how the rabbit(s) did travelling via air etc.

        Airlines allowing pets: http://www.petfriendlytravel.com/airtravel

Also I came across this at HRS and on Bunspace. A bunspacer wrote to an airline asking why rabbits weren’t not included in the pets allowed in the cabin. The response she got is….well read for your self.   http://www.rabbit.org/opinion/southwest.html

It’s created quite a kerfuffle and there is a long discussion about it at bunspace.

Lol I can’t believe all the puns that person wrote about rabbits. Well behaved dogs and cats? Obviously I need to bring my siamese cat and pomeranian on board so I can show them how out of control those 2 little dorks are. Siamese cry more than a baby child I swear and the pom…oh god is he a barker. They make rabbits look like saints! And lol @ the breeding joke…do they actually thing someone would pay money to put rabbits that mate openly in a cat carrier on a plane? That’s pretty ludicrous! Hey guys…going to grandmas house next week, gee let me take my uncared for rabbits with me and hope they reproduce on the plane ride over!! ?? — lol whaaaaat???

On a side note – on the way back from Spain my french horn was crushed by them in cargo back in 2005. And it wasn’t even the long flight back from Spain…it was from LA to San Fran. An hour long flight. The lady argued with me and said NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT! LOLLLLLLL!!!! MY BELL WAS SMASHED IN!!! I raised so much hell that security was ready to take me away. In short….airlines are stupid. Drive when you can. My horn survived but I learned my lesson and my new horn has a screw bell and a case that fits on airplanes.

My mother is a screening officer at our City’s International Airport. I know she’s seen bunnies go through before because she always mentions it. I’m going to ask her about the policy here for bringing rabbits aboard. I never really thought about it much before.

I would only fly with my buns if it was 100% unavoidable. I would be so stressed out, I think I’d pass out! I HATE flying to begin with but I do fly occasionally. I can’t imagine feeling the “take off” without knowing what is going on, as animals experience while flying.

I flew with my rabbit out to california 15 years ago. The flight attendants loved to stop by and give her greens and it got me a date in a new city.

Jess flew back with her recently departed rabbit. It was no issue although I can’t remember what airline she was on. Normally she flies out of Oakland on Southwest but I know that this time it was at SFO so could have been any airline.

I saw that response on Bunspace.     Very ugly.

If I fly I will only go on flight I can take my buns IN THE CABIN  only.
