Can anyone help me on this situation…. I went outside today and found numerous holes in our yard from chipmunks.  They go under our garage and even down our downspots to our footer (that is useless…don’t get me started on that).  I love chipmunks they are so cute but they are ruining our yard (well besides all the weeds ).  Is there some way to get rid of them without killing them and also nothing to deter our wild bunny friend??  I saw something online but it was the scent of a fox and that would scare our bunny away.

the only thing i can think of is to get a humane trap and start a chipmunk-relocation-program. i did this with squirrels. took em for a long drive into the country and set em free. they were destroying my roof – seriously destructive little critters – and i was so mad at them until i had the first one trembling in my trap. then i felt bad for the poor thang.

What in your yard they are eating? If it is something you can change that might make them pack up and move? You can send them all to my house…We don’t have any here. Raccoons kept eating the cat food and peaches, so to try not to have them come back as often, we don’t feed the cats outside anymore and the peach tree is covered with a net.

The only problem with relocating them on your own is you have no idea if you are leaving babies behind and taking a momma.

We don’t have chipmunks in Texas either – I would advise you to see if there is a website for wildlife rehab in Ohio to see if they have suggestion.

They aren’t eating anything (I don’t think), just making holes in our yard and going under our garage and down spout.

Maybe put mothballs in their holes?  That should discourage them as they will find it unpleasant.

This link actually says that the mothballs don’t work for chipmunks, but coyote urine does! Not that you want to be spraying coyote urine everywhere, never mind how you get the urine.  That would sure scare away your wild yard bunny. I don’t know if this will help any…
