Hello fellow bunny lovers!

I'm new to owning a bunny as well as this forum, so I thought I'd introduce myself.   I recently got a bunny three weeks ago.  She is a mini lop mostly (her ears do not always stay down) and is 3 1/2 months old and spayed.  I got her from a rescue agency from a friend I knew who rescues and fosters bunnies.

By trade, I am a dog trainer and live with three large dogs.  I know, why was I thinking about getting a bunny?  Well, I really wanted a different species in the house and fell in love with Clover's picture.  Since I knew about her a few weeks after her birth and put in my application soon after, I made sure to read up on bunny care as well as ask some of my friends who had bunnies.

Anyway, Clover is doing really well and is responding to clicker training nicely.  We're still working on litterbox training, but she is getting better overall.  I'm working on getting her used to  things like brushing, petting, etc.  She truly is turning out to be lovely, and I really enjoy watching all her bunny behaviors (well mostly).

Here are some pictures of Clover below.

I look forward to reading more on the board and getting to know you all.

Awww, she is super cute!! I love the helicopter ears.

Welcome! There are a few of us here who are into clicker training, so hopefully you can lend your expertise on some of the training threads. Does she know any tricks yet? What do you plan to teach her?

 Hello Elrohwen!

Thanks for the welcome.  Right now, she has learned what "house" means and is responding to her name.  I started with target training, so she would touch my fingers.  She has learned to go onto her hind legs with a hand cue and sort of knows the verbal "pretty please."  I'm working on teaching her to spin and hopefully doing bunny agility with her.  She already goes through all the tunnels I've made for her.  I'm also working with a lot of click/treat for petting and such, especially since she really isn't that thrilled about being picked up.  Currently, she absolutely loves to jump in in my lap and will perch herself on my arm.   It helps that she loves treats!

Definitely, I'll try to help where I can and other can teach me as well.

Excellent to have someone new to contribute to the clicker threads. The more, the better! I'm not one of those who contribute unfortunately, but I like reading the threads and getting inspired to pull myself together and do some training

And congrats on Clover! I love those ears as well. That is so cute How are the dogs and bunnies getting along?

So sorry it has taken me forever to get back to you all. I thought I clicked to receive updates on this thread, but I must have forgotten.

Thanks for the "cuteness" compliments.

Karla, Clover and the dogs are doing very well together. They are still separated at this point but meet each other through the gate very well. I haven't had too much time in July to really work with them as I was taking care of a friend's dog here. I'm hoping to get some video footage of the dogs and bunny though soon. I just learned how to use my handycam.

Mocha220, clicker training is truly a lot of fun. Clover really enjoys it. It's not only great for tricks but basic handling things too. i'm currently working on getting her used to a harness--slow and steady. Let me know if you want tips. I'd be happy to provide them.

HatterBunny, yes her helicopter ears are just too cute!

Welcome! I like your username. I had my two large dogs also before getting into rabbits but it has worked out over time between them and my rabbits. I am very excited to have a real professional dog trainer on this forum. You will be able to help with many problems people run into when adding a dog into a rabbit household.

Clover is a beauty! Maybe you can even make some videos of your training with her? I'd love to learn some as my rabbits are totally untrained except I believe they have trained me...

Thanks Petzy and Beka!

Petzy, I am definitely going to try to upload videos soon. Today, actually, I let Tovah, my youngest dog, meet Clover face to face. Both did so well, and Clover showed no fear at all! I did get some of this footage on video and took some photos too. I think the dogs will do fine. I'm taking it slow and one on one with each dog. All three are trained. The only one who may be more difficult is my deaf white Boxer. She tends to "stare" since she is deaf, so I've had to teach her to break eye contact as it makes dogs and other animals nervous.

Anyway, I'm happy to help where I can. I can't guarantee anything as I'm not personally there, but I can give general tips to people.
