We have a Lionmane bunny and everytime he gets on our couch by my wife he decides to pee or poop on or by her. Please help!

We had a bunny before him and I thought that maybe the other bunnies scent was on the couch and the new bunny was maybe marking his area but I'm not really sure. He is litterbox trained rather well.

Thank you for your help

I'm guessing he is not neutered?

Keep him away from the couch until he is neutered - and a good while afterwards - so that it doesn't become a bad habit. Also, make sure that you wash the scent of his pee off with vinegar, so that doesn't make him want to keep marking.

I agree with Karla. If he is neutered, you may just need to shoo him off the couch as soon as he jumps up.

While you're keeping him off, definitely to a light washing of the couch with vinegar and water. You could use a spray bottle on the cushions, then wipe it off, or use very mild soapy water after the vinegar. The idea is to get rid of the former bunny's scent as well as his new pee scent. Once he's neutered, it may not be so interesting to him to mark.

By the way, have you tried setting a litter pan near the couch, so when he's up there, if he starts to wiggle just a little, you can scoop him off and place him in the litter pan to go? You can drop a little bit of soiled litter in it from his regular box to get him started. It may save him the trip back to his cage to go, and when he's hormonal, he's less likely to wait for the right place, so it might help.
