Petzy’s cute vid inspired me to take some pictures today on our hike. I’ve been hiking everyday now that school is out. Hopefully will help me lose 10 lbs over the summer

First spot of shade we got to, we only walked about half a mile and they were already hoping to get to the stream faster.

Running around in the grass – checking out the cow’s water. No cows in this area – thank goodness because Leia has to go back on leash when they are there because she wants to play with them

        Yes!!!! The stream!!! *cools off*

        Swim swim swim swim

Sorry for poor quality pictures – they are off my cell phone. Can’t jog well with a digi cam  :p

Don’t you find you move faster with the dogs than without? I find dogless walks so utterly boring!
The second picture is my favorite! I bet your two are thrilled that school is out for the summer.
I still favor your rat terrier, she must have endless stamina….

Yes, I am brisk walking and jogging off and on with them. And yes…the Ratty is very very high energy and sprints and leaps all over. She did scare me half to death though. We were walking along and then all of a sudden she lets out this deep deep deep growl that I would expect out of a 75 lbs dog….I am like what is that and seriously my heart just falls into my stomach and I start whiping around, pull off my sunglasses and start looking for a coyote or something following us. Nope….there is a large branch that fell into the path and that set her off. I was so relieved. Although on the way back…..we were walking through a shadey spot that is connected to the bulls pen ….I swear to goodness they sounded like bears. I couldn’t see them – I know they are black and in the shade and trees, couldnt see anything! I just heard these weird noises and I said to the dogs “ok time to gooooooooooooo!!!!” I got back and asked my mom if bulls make deep rumbly noises. She said “Why yes, they sound like dinosaurs.” lol!! It’s always an adventure out there. I’m about to drink some coffee then get ready to go. As soon as I start doing my hair Wickett (pom) starts going insane and dancing and barking all over because he knows!!

how is it connected to a bulls’ pen? Aren’t these bulls in a live wire fencing enclosure?
My dog is fascinated with cattle. If there is cattle, she will sit down and stay…for hours. That’s the end of any hike!

Well there are many cattle gates to go through as you go along the hills, and the bulls pen is off to the side. It’s all barb wire. But I heard them that close and got the heck out!! I had never heard them that close – usually they are way far off. Leia (ratty) is very bad and chases cows if I don’t get her back on the leash. She runs in between their legs and you can do all the screaming and hollering you want …she won’t come back until she is bored. We are working on getting her to come back with the clicker and treats but she just isn’t getting it. I walked her on the leash next to 2 yesterday and she was completely focused on me and not the cow and she was 3 feet away from us at most. The cows aren’t scared and just sit there and stare at you. So I have this technique where at a bend in the trail, I start jumping to see if cows are around the corner, I’m 5’9” so I can peep over the tall grass to see the cows before she does and get the leash on. Bad dog!!!!

Running in between the cows’ legs?! That would stress me out. My neighbor that owns the cows around here, would shoot my dog for that. I think he would be allowed to.

now I see why you need a coffee before you go out with Leia!

If you look up rat terrier on youtube, you get a good selection of nutty puppies!

She wants the cows to chase her…she’s got issues. It’s not a farm, it’s just a regional park and they rent out the land to cattle owners for them to graze – works good for the park because it cuts down the fire risk a bit when the grass gets munched on. That’s really sad that someone would/could do that where you live.

Oh, how I wish I could go on jogs with scenery like that!! So sick of seeing the same four styles of “Mercedes” homes popping up all over the place in my area. Cute pictures!

Oh…cookie cutter houses? Those are all over here too sadly. What you expect tho in the bay area. So crowded here takes me almost 30min to get to the other side of town for work in traffic. 10min with none. Ughhh.

This reminds me, I think we may have lost member Barbie to the dogs! Ever since she got her new pup she has been suspiciously absent.

ZOMG we have to be very creative for our dog walks. Mikey-well he makes a lab look like a couch potatoe, who is slow stupid and tired. Mikey, my dog, is a nutcase. And he’s built (now that he gets decent exercise and top of the line food plus human food) is built like a brick poop house. Literally the other day he hit my leg while running and I had a bruise the size of a brick on my calf!!!!
So anyways we have to be creative getting him his exercise (otherwise he tears apart the house…goodbye camera, cellphone, pillos, couch etc….seriously-lab owners don’t belive it)-we take him to 9 different off leash parks rotating so he’s busy. We sneak him into the playgrounds after dark so he can play (dogs not allowed sadly) -plan is to get him into flyball or agilitly this year as he’s so into it. But yeah walking him -wow-it just makes you feel so happy and energetic-because he is!

I took Puma to see the cows and she is still stuck on them. This herd is different than last year’s; they don’t care about us standing near them. Last year’s herd had one lead cow who would make a big fuss whenever anyone approached. She would moo and moo till all the other cows would start moving.
