So Fiver now has about a tablespoon and a half of raw pumpkin in his bowl each night for his evening veggie. It’s the only thing I’ve found he has no trouble with and it keeps him regular and his cecals from being too messy. For the most part.

I’ve been picking up about three small cans a week at the store…but now they are all gone and it’s rumored they won’t get anymore in until September due to the shortages they had last winter.

        WHAT???

Is anyone else able to get canned plain pumpkin where they are, or is it just lucky me who’s having trouble? I am thinking of sending money stateside and having a case shipped up, but I need to be sure there’s even a supply first.

If it’s not available, is there anything I can substitute for it that would have the same effect?

I’ll take a look when I go to the store in the next couple days, see what we got.

Oh I heard about those shortages. The pumpkins all got moldy or something and the farmers lost all their crops!!! I don’t remember what happened to them exactly but apparently it’s pretty catastrophic.

Have you tried Walmart? They have a website where you can enter your zip code to see if it’s sold there. Some of them stock Libby’s canned pumpkin.
Thought of them since they’re not a grocery store per se, so might carry it.

also, someone at weight watchers mentioned that baby food jars tend to be very healthy, since they don’t add sugars now to certain foods for babies. They may have pumpkin. I’m wondering if squash is OK. Frozen can be mashed. Or all natural apple sauce, which is much sweeter but for that amount, with no additives, might be a nice substitute temporarily.
