Just a quick note to ask board members to please keep good thoughts going for folks here in our local area and statewide as well…already the wildfire season appears to be out of control and we have three going in the immediate area that could flare up enough to uproot me and the kids and pets at any time.

I am wishing I had the three bunnies bonded so they could all go in one cage if I had to. As it is I’ll be picking up two more carriers when I next go to town just to be sure I have enough to go around for everyone…if I don’t just up and shove the three bunny pens in the truck with the dog crate, two housecats in carriers and one very angry Hello Kitty who may need her own straitjacket since she doesn’t like riding in cars! 0_o

Oy…I need to move…. >_<  I mean, I love this place but seriously.... Too much to worry about with so many pets....

          *cough* oregon *cough*

Don’t forget to pack up the sock bunnies too! They’d be so scared without you…

Seriously though, keep safe up there! We’ll be sending anti-fire vibes up to you!

*sigh* Noted: Sockbunnies must be packed. lol….

If my house goes, so does my lifetime collection of plushies. *sniffle* I almost put them on a higher position of importance than my legal documents and family photos! One year we actually had a trailer packed with them to pull out of here just in case. >.<

Okay, yup. I am officially insane. Figured that out a long time ago. ^_^

Well, I *think* one of the fires closest to us may be out. *whew!* Since the area burned almost right down to us 6 years ago. I guess there wasn’t enough to really keep it going.
All the other fires in the state though are still blowing smoke into our area. It’s really uncomfortable to go out in that. One of the types of wood burning is the kind that makes my throat burn and my nose run and gives me a headache. (we’d used some in our wood stove one winter and I about choked to death in here just from the smell!)

I despise winter here, but this makes summer absolutely no fun at all. And all the low brush growth and weeds have made it back up to the house, so I have to go out in the nasty air and pull it all back about 6 feet….bleah! Too bad the bunnies can’t help me dig!

Hope your hubby remembers HK does NOT do well out of the carrier too.

That’s just it, MB…it would just be me and the kids. Hub is spending most of his time at his mine this summer. >.<
So yeah….I get to do the solo evac thing, if it comes to that.

We’ve been pretty lucky so far. The smoke is worst in the early morning and late evening, when the winds die down. During the main part of the day however, we’re getting some nice blasts form the west. Clears things up pretty well. We’re getting just a touch of rain too, but not enough to put anything out of course.

The perils of living on the edge of a national forest. Of course, there is no fire service out here. So you have to clear around your house, pre-burn your undergrowth on your property, soak the whole area and house and pray that the fire doesn’t roar through before you can get out safely. You’re divinely blessed if you then have something more than cinders to come back to.
