  hey eveybody! if you have any interaction in horses, own one or just love them, i need your help! ok, so, at my 4-h clubs 2 day overnight show in august, i am entering the costume class. my horse is a 11 year old P.O.A. mare, leopard colored. doess anyone have any ideas for costumes, because i am falling short of them? any would help, thanks

  Best costume I remember seeing as a kid was a Taxi.
  The rider wore a taxi cab hat etc. and the reins were conected to a wheel on the horn of a western saddle. The rider would even pick soemone up and have them sit on the back, but really you could put a doll on or something.

  Okay, I can definitely help you here, since I was in 4-H and we won the club costume contest.
  We had one that STILL has people talking. Our club did a “sleepover” themed costume (sheets on the horse’s backs, stuffed animals attached to saddles, us in PJs). The kicker was – we took an old pair of bear slippers, cut out the middle, and duct taped them to Jay’s (my horse) feet.

  The only thing that came to mind was making her look like a Dalmatian dog since she is already spotted. Make some floppy black ears to attach to her halter, braid her tail and put it in a tail bag to look like a spotted dog tail. Make a fake dog collar for her. Maybe try to go the 101 Dalmatians theme????

  LPT, I’ll see if I can find a picture somewhere. I have one of him from the belly up, but I’m probably going to have to ask my old riding buddy for a picture of the feet.

  We did jailbreak theme with my Saddlebred when I was a girl. We made him up a costume with a sheet (painted with black stripes), his black and white fly mask, and I dressed as a policeman. Not amazing, but it was easy to do and pretty cute!
