› Forum › THE LOUNGE › Where do your bunnies sleep?
Since Kay & Winston are free range all of the time, I use to wonder about this a lot. But, my husband is an insomniac. So, he tells me where the buns are in the middle of the night. It’s not what I thought it would be!
During the day, they spend most of their nap time under one of the chairs. I thought that is where they would sleep too. Not even close!
Nap spot:
Winston likes to sleep in the upstairs room (the bed room?) of the Bunny Condo. It is safe up there.
Kay likes to sleep in the very center of the room. I guess this way she can hear in all directions easily and can get any where quickly.
This is part of where “Lady Kay the Protector” comes from.
So . . . where do your buns sleep? Is it where you thought they would? Feel free to post photos!
lol they got you .
Cotton Boo hangs out under the wicker table on the shelf under there. I put him a pillow and a towel. I thougth he would hang there.
He sleeps in his cage on his shelf. I put them in their cages at nite.
Rubiya Lion she sleeps or hangs out by the a/c in the corner under the window. At nite she sleeps in her house. In the winter she sleeps in her litterbox cuz the tv is next to her cage and it is warm there.
I think she sleeps on her shelf. I have a plastic thing on top of her wire bottom cage she likes hanging out there too.
In her maze haven lol
Frankie usually sleeps under my bed (well I guess technically under my headboard shelving). Or he sleeps in front of his old cage in my room on a big carpet square that keeps my regular carpet clean… facing me… and staring at me when I wake up and look at him… I think he watches me sleep and eventually falls asleep with his eyes open when he’s there. It’s interesting, haha.
During the day they both sleep under a chair in the living room or right behind our tv (what better place to sleep than in Cable & Cord Heaven?).
During the night (and during the day, if he is very tired), Karl sleeps in the Maze Haven. Molly sleeps on top of it. That way, she can thump and warn him against monsters and ghosts at night, I guess
Well, currently they are sleeping in a small pet store cage to prevent scuffles. They are not pleased 😛
Otherwise, they’re confined to a 4’x8′ pen at night so there aren’t that many sleeping choices. Sometimes I’ve found them in the maze haven (top level) or just laying out in the middle of the pen.
if i need to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night pinky is usually loafing on the matt right next to the babygate that keeps the dog out of her room. i thought this was weird because during the day she sleeps on the top level of her enclosure. i thought that was her ‘spot’.
Hatter is free range and during the day he likes to hang out under the TV table. In the middle of the night I’ve seen him sleeping right next to his litter box.
When I keep them out during the night Marshmallow sleeps squished up against my dog Ziggy or in a cardboard box. Pacey refuses to sleep anywhere but his part of the bunny room so you will find him flopped over in the middle of the floor snoozing.
I only let them stay out during the night if I am having a particularly bad insomniac night otherwise I wouldn’t leave them out with my dogs around.
Oh man… mine sleep in several places. During the day, when I’m at my computer, they both hang out under the coffee table, and I poke them with my feet every so often. Momo will squish against my foot, and Remy will dig on it for funzies.
At night, I don’t think they sleep much… I could be wrong, but I don’t think those piles of feathers from our poor couch made themselves…
Mine sleep behind a locked and reinforced cage, thank you.
Mine haven’t been in a cage in…. i can’t remember how long, lol
If it weren’t for that cage, poor Mark would have been assassinated by Maryanne by now
Monkey likes to sleep in either her little bed with her little bear, or on the shelf of her cage with her bigger bear at night. She wuvs her stuffies.
Moose flops by his pen door at night. Maybe he thinks it will somehow open by itself in the middle of the night, and he has to be right by it to get out in time
Both of then nap in various places during the day, but you can be sure to find Moosie in a sunbeam every afternoon, silly man.
Isn’t it funny how they don’t sleep in the same place at night that they do during the day!
Seems several buns sleep next to the litter box – well, when you gotta go . . .
I’m not suprised some sleep in the Maze Haven, it’s like my buns condo!
Rachel – Frankie watches over you, how sweet , in a creepy way!
Karla – So Molly is also a “Protector”
Sonn – Marshmallow sleeps squished up against my dog Ziggy – Awwwwww!
Lizzie – Maybe they sleep on the couch, and then have bad dreams . . .
Marcus – I don’t blame ya!
monkey – I’m with Moosie, sunbeams are awesome for naps!
Rachel, when I slept with the bunnies lately Hannah would stare at me all night. If they made noise and I opened my eyes, I would find her staring me down. Way creepy!
lol Sagecat, lol Elrohwen
My buns absolutely sleep in different places at night.
During the day they are in either the maze or under whichever boxes they have, or under chairs/tables. Always under cover.
At night they will sleep out in the open, almost without fail. Not sure why?
Beka, I’m sure they feel the need to guard the house from burglers while you sleep 😀
Yeah. That’s it. Meadow guards… Max cowers.
One of Frankie’s favorite places to nap during the day is downstairs in the dining room… He loafs on one of the table’s chair cushions, hidden under the table/tablecloth. He is almost always there when he’s not in my upstairs room relaxing. It’s more of his daytime hangout. He tends to be back and forth between my bedroom and the general downstairs during daytime.
And about his staring at me at night and early morning – it is kind of bizarre, but at least he’s too cute to really be creepy! Hehehe. I guess I should be flattered that he wants to pay attention to me?! Some nights he will jump up into my bed and check on me too. Then climb on my head! Last time he did this, I had a guest over… needless to say, they were a bit confused when the bunny climbed on them while they were sleeping! At least he avoided their head; that would have been a lot weirder.
Frankie sounds liek my mom’s cat Toby. He climbs over everything He stepped on her ear and nose one night… lol
I think Frankie and Hannah are the same bun. She’s also obsessed with the dining room chairs!
Though her staring at me is kind of creepy 😛 Her eyes bug out a little and she looks like she’s ready to flee if I make a move. Otto is better at the non-creepy staring.
Beka – “Meadow guards… Max cowers” Sounds just like Kay & Winston!!!
My boys naps under my futon chair and sometimes they sleep there too, but they also sleep in the middle of the floor too at night
This is prob. very weird, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen Jolene sleep. I see her lying around all the time, but I’ve never caught her sleeping, even when we spend the whole day together.
You guys crack me up. Frankie stepping on my face is a lot weirder if I don’t know he’s in my bed and don’t wake up until he’s actually on my face. A week or so ago, he climbed on my head trying to get up on my headboard shelving, which was interesting in itself (I’m a stepstool?!) but then when I tried to push him off, he scratched off a pimple on my cheek with his nails! Probably not so sanitary, but at least it was mostly healed already.
Billie – a lot of bunnies sleep with their eyes open as part of their prey instinct. You might have seen her sleeping without even knowing!
Victoria sleeps between my bed and the book shelf. Since she’s white (technically Albino) I can see her at night, there’s enough light from the moon, and whatnot that I can see this white blob on the dark carpet. She’s such a good girl, she has her legs spread out behind her right now and is really flopped out on the floor, so I’m guessing she’s happy and feeling secure!
She occasionally may need to go back into her cage, but if she’s in there for more than 12 hours she starts getting fussy, banging on the wire or plucking it with her teeth, kicking litter out of her box, and ringing the bell attached to one of her toys. If she feels she’s spent too much time in there, she will let you know with a LOT of noise.

Pepper’s main “burrow” is under my bed, which is where she sleeps at night. Sometimes during the day she’ll shift to under the couch. AT bedtime we both run our little bedtime routines at the same time and then she hops up next to my pillow for some pettins before sleep. Poor thing – I’ve been really sick and I coughed her off the bed the other night.
If I leave the bathroom door open during Stormy’s free time, he wraps himself around the toilet and zonks out there. When he sleeps in his cage, there’s a giant pvc pipe in there that I bought for him to play with/climb through. He sleeps either against it or with just his head inside.
Ooo that reminded me. I have had to veto the bathroom for my two because they LOVE to sleep and hang out under my bath tub (it’s one of those old claw foot ones) and I absolutely can’t get to them at all under there so I’ve stopped letting them go in there. Comet sometimes still waits hopefully if I am in there and have the door open that I will forget and leave it open, lol. He is waiting for an opportunity!
I wonder if they like that space b/c it’s cool? Tile underneath and porcelain on top? Is there anything they can hurt underneath there? I guess I don’t see the danger in letting them be in that space.
Otto is obsessed with the floor grate near their cage. The other grates are all up on the wall, but there’s that one on the floor and he loves to stretch out on it. I can’t imagine the ridges in his tummy are comfortable, but he loves the cool metal. In the summer he’ll hang out there waiting for the A/C to come on, then he sits over it with his fur fluttering in the breeze. Lol
Bekah, the reason I don’t like them under there is because there was a whole day once that they wouldn’t come out even for food and I cannot get to them there at all. It’s also (because of the shape and size of my bathroom) literally IMPOSSIBLE to clean under there and they made a mess and were trying to eat the wall…or rather the strip of wood that runs around the wall on the bottom? forget the name…hehe. anyways. There’s lots of other cool places for them to lay so I veto the tub!
silly buns.. Monkey liked nibbling the baseboards for awhile, luckily she grew out of it, so to speak
