“Why doesn’t Meadow have babies?”

He’s learning about animals and the differences between mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, and he knows now that rabbits are mammals.

 

So he asks me the other day, “if Max is a boy, and Meadow is a girl, why don’t they have babies?”

I told him, “B/c Meadow has been ‘fixed’ so she won’t have babies.”

Michael: “Why?”

Me: “B/c we don’t want her to have any babies.”

Michael: “I want her to have babies!  How many do they have?”

Me: “They can have up to ten every couple months.  That’s a lot of bunnies!  Where would we put them all?”

Michael: “They can live in my room.”

 

This conversation went back and forth for awhile.  I think he still wants baby bunnies.

 

And then later that day, we saw a commercial with a human baby on it and he asks me,

“Why didn’t you have anymore babies?  Is it b/c you were ‘fixed’?”

I did not have a response for that.  LOL.

I can see how so many young kids/ teenagers end up with pets. At a certain point those kids just wear you down! He is a very intelligent boy! He never fails to amaze me.

Years ago a male relative had to have a vasectomy, and they were trying to delicately explain what procedure he had gone to the dr. for (it wasn’t commonly used in conversation like it is now), until I finally had a lightbulb moment and exclaimed “Oh! You got fixed!”

They agreed, but blushed.

my gf’s son got to the age where he wanted to know about how babies were conceived. his aunt & uncle were expecting at the time. he had been asking questions for a while already and my gf decided he was ready to hear about it. after she explained the conversation went like this:

son: so uncle mike and aunt dana did thAt?!?

mom: yes, anyone who has a baby had to do that to get pregnant.

son: so you and daddy did thAt?!?

mom: yes, anyone who has a baby had to do that to get pregnant.

son: did you liKe it?!?

Haha, ooh, clever boy! I don’t have kids, and don’t want them (personal decision).

But after my parents separated, they decided to get back together. My mom came into my room (I was young) and wanted to make sure I understood what was going on. They had been seeing other people, so I think she wanted to get my blessing, ^_^

“So your Daddy is coming back.”

“Uh huh, you already told me.”

“Yes, but I want you to know, me and your Daddy will be sleeping in the same bed together again. Is that okay with you?”

I thought about it for a moment. “It’s okay with me if it’s okay with him!”

She told that to her boss, and her boss spit coffee all over her desk as she choked in surprise. ;D
