i’m worried about my sweet pinky poo.  she didn’t eat her pellets yesterday… which happens once a month or so… but then she usually eats them up by the next morning.  this morning they were still there.  so were the celery pieces and her water hadn’t been touched either.  plus, right before bed i dumped her litter and this morning the yesterdays news pellets were untouched.

she was alert this morning but her posturing was slightly off.  so i laid down on my bed with her on my belly and gently massaged her belly for a few minutes.  there wasn’t a whole lot of rumbling going on which has me concerned, tho it didn’t seem like her belly was distended.  sigh.  couldn’t tempt her to eat any greens BUT she did munch on a raisin so i fed her 3 water-dipped raisins in hopes it would spark some more eating.

i put her back in her enclosure and instructed her to eat and drink and for the love of god POOP by the time i get home from work.  by the time i had to leave for work she had jumped out of her enclosure and was resting on her mat by the baby gate (her usual spot during the day).  good sign maybe?

Oh no! Vibes to Pinky! If you have any, it wouldn’t hurt to try some simethicone if you think she’s “stopped up”

thx for the vibes! i wish i had some simethicone. tho if i did it would’ve surely expired by now since it was for her spay 2 yrs ago.

i’m going home at lunch in 40 mins to check on her. i have class tonight so if i need to bring her to the vet’s it will have to be this aft. fingers crossed that she’s already ‘unstopped’ on her own.

what are bladder sludge symptoms? they are a bit similar right? uncomfortable posturing and not eating / pooping due to pain?

That could be a UTI or bladder sludge as well. I would definitely have the vet check her.

It’s lunch time here. How was she when you went home? Can you pick up some simethecone on the way if you haven’t gone yet?

thx rabbitpam. went home and pinky was still the same… no eating, drinking or pooping. boo. so i’m leaving work early to take her to the vet’s at 3:40 and get this sorted. poor bum! she’s def not feeling good yet when i put her on the counter to check her tummy she was ticked and threw my stack of 3 toilet paper rolls onto the floor. she also started digging on the towel i put her on. silly goose.

ok… just got back… all went very well

when i got home at 3:30 to pick her up she had had several poops!!! yay!!! and then the vet ruled out sludge, teeth probs and uti with a physical exam. based on the exam my vet felt good about not going ahead with xrays / tests unless she continues not to eat / drink in the next 24hrs. so she gave her some sub-q fluid and sent me off with some metoclopramide for motility.

phew!!!!!! feel a bit better now. hopefully the meds do their thing.

well the pinkster was very very rabbity this morning. since she hadn’t eaten yesterday’s pellets until some time in the night i thought i’d skip them today to be sure she ate more veg and hay. but she was begging for pellets at the baby gate and i couldn’t refuse! i’m hoping to see some nice healthy poops (not the wee measly ones) by the time i get home today!

@hatterbunny… no kidding right? funnily enough, i just got a follow-up call from my vet’s office and felt very awkward fully describing the poo situation since i’m at work. lol. pretty sure my efforts to come across as ‘sweet’ and not ‘total nut job’ are foiled whilst describing in detail the size and shape of bunny poo.

had nice big normal poops yesterday / last night / this morning. ate her greens heartily last night and was pellet-crazed as usual this morning. i stopped with the meds – they said to continue until poops look normal – and so i have a nice stash leftover for a rainy day.
