        Sorry they charge how much?

        http://www.petsrepublic.com.sg/aboutus_frame.html

Not sure if I should be in shock or not!  Poor things the older they get the more their price drops but i did not pay anywhere NEAR this amount for my rabbits (ok they are both resuces and came to me for free but that is not the point!) Heck i did not pay this much to get them fixed??  What do they poop golden poop or something?

Well rabbit poop is Golden – at least to gardeners anyway. At first I thought is was just the Singaporean dollar but when I did a conversion, the prices were still up there. Weird, because I don’t think they’re that rare there. Maybe because they’re considered exotic?

Yeah I know I also did the conversion and was like really?

$138 for the little angora boy, $216.10 for the nethie! I only paid $145 ( or $187.87 their $) for Bugz to be snipped! I would hate to think what they cost over there, that and on another page they have this chincillia (sp??) thing for $1500!!!!!

Those prices are crazy! I wonder how many people actually buy their animals…

I actually think pricing a pet at a higher price for pet stores will keep people from making impulse purchases – frankly if they are going to sell rabbits I think they should sell them for more than what they do. It will make people stop being impulsive and thinking they are just $10 pets. I say price them higher!

After all, a free pet is never ever a free pet!

I absolutely agree!!!  Same things happen on internet sites like Craigslist… so many bunnies for free or $10 (or more often than not “buy the cage… get this rabbit free”).  I say raise the price if you’re going to sell them at all… and at least (hopefully) only serious people will consider them (and better yet… spay/neuter.)  I know breeders will often times sell their buns for higher prices, and while I don’t deal with breeders personally, I do respect that they are only selling to people who are willing to PAY for the rabbit.

                      True that

The most expensive thing for me was buying the rabbit kennel

I would certainly love to bun nap all those Nethies though

Pretty soon bunnies will be the exclusive pet of choice for the rich, and we’ll see designer handbags with bunnies in them in 4 star restaurants and spas.

When Bugz first came to me I was worried about his eating so I got my dogs handbag (yes one of my dogs have a carry handbag) and Bugz came with me for the first few days to make sure he was eating etc… he was fine about the whole thing, only stopped as people keep telling me that transporting bunnies is scarey for them

Ditto everyone who said to price bunnies higher!

Otto was $55 and some people think that’s ridiculous, but I think he was totally worth it. And don’t even ask how much it cost to neuter him :’-(

Hannah was a free Craigslist bunny though and I’m glad that some random person didn’t get her! Though her owner was pretty good about checking to make sure we would take excellent care of her.

The lady I mentioned before who breeds for show gets constant requests from people in Asia to send her bunnies to them. (she does not) The prices for shipping to this part of the world from the US are extremely cost prohibitive…and yet they still want them sent there. We’re talking around $1000 per bun just to get them overseas…nevermind what it’s going to cost to get them through customs and released to the new owners.

I don’t know if this is freight or if this involves bunny going first class with all the bells and whistles and a bottle of champagne to boot. (it should) I think it’s sad, really. I don’t like the idea of rabbits being shipped to countries where people are much more comfortable with using them for food if they “become troublesome.”

I think to spring Pip from PETCO was about $90. Even as a ‘must sell’. This didn’t include her accessories.

                                  I totally agree on that.

That is one of the sites I ran into a few weeks ago.

Pets are companions, not something that should be bought cheaply.

I laughed a little at the “golden poop” comment… imagine how amazing that would be since they poop so freaking much!
