since december 23rd my grandma has been in the hospital, every other weekend we have been going up to see her (the weekends my sister, my aunt, my mom and i dont go, my mom drives my aunt and her two boys up, so its an every weekend thing.) she has been progressivly getting worse. she's been sick with the diseas that killed her sister for 5 years. she's been waiting for the end for 3 months and 5 days... today it came. we were all in my grandparent house sleeping when we got the call. at 6:45am, my grandma had passed away. She was loved dearly and may she rest in peace. here is the e-mail my grandpa passed aroung to the rest of the family who hadnt heard. (my family is very large)

AT  5:30  TO 6 O'CLOCK   THIS   MORNING  ,  SUNDAY   MARCH 28TH    MY   WIFE,   OF   45  YEARS, PASSED   AWAY....GOD   LOVE    HER  ...  I DID ...... SHE   HAD   WAGNERS   DISEASE   FOR   5  YEARS...WHAT  SHE   PASSED   AWAY   FROM   WAS   PULMONARY   FIBROSIS    [LUNG   DISEASE ]
  ALL  THAT   KNEW   HER....LOVED   HER    ....SHE   WILL   BE   MISSED ...    YOU   CAN'T    HELP   BUT   LOVE  AN  ANGEL  ...  
 

 

 

 

 

-my grandma's name was Helen, this is a bitter sweet in some ways, we know know she is in a better place now and is no longer suffering, but it still doesnt stop the pain.

UPDATE: my grandpa's not handling it so well, i feel horrible for him, we just found out that when he was called to go into the hospital she was just about to go but by the time he got there she had gone :'(

I'm so sorry to hear this, a few years ago my grandfather passed while my grandma was in the hospital having her hip replaced.. she felt so guilty not being there, we had the entire family go to the hospital to tell her.. luckily having family around helped. Just be there for your grandpa, and he will be glad to have all of you there to help him, and to help each other.

I'm so sorry Mirbear, it's so hard to lose the ones you love. They were married such a long time and what a beautiful email. It's going to be hard on your grandfather and he'll have to grieve in his own way, as will all of you. Grandmothers are special and I'm sorry for your loss. You're in my prayers and I'll light a candle for your family

kralspace, we are very worried about how he will choose to greive... he is a very heavy alcohalic so were scared he might drink himself to death.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. I am going through something similar, my grandmother's health has been deteriorating recently, my husband grandmother's health has not been the best either. It is so hard to lose a grandparent. I will be thinking about you and you family, sending thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs)))
