I need some new websites, books, & music to visit, read, & well listen to.  So since I value everybodies insight on here…. any suggestions please? My taste in music is well just about anything but rap & most country. The most played on my ipod is- Rob Thomas, the Script, Kings Of Leon, & of course my Broadway soundtracks- RENT, Wicked, & my favorite The Chorous Line.

I read anything. Really. I don’t have a favorite type of Genre of books. As for websites I’m on- twloha EVERY day. Well to be honest more than once a day & of course binky bunny  Then my homeschool site, but that dosn’t count since I have to do that.  I would love to learn how to cook better things than grilled cheese & well cereal ( sad I know). So any good recipe sites? How about blogs?

Ahh this post is all about me. Sorry about that, I don’t mean to ramble on about myself & sound selfish. People like that bug me  lol

My favorite recipe site is http://www.vegweb.com . They have tons of great vegan recipes there.
It also seems Mr. Bunny has been posting my best vegan recipes at http://www.bunspace.com/forum/thread?tid=8221&posts_tgp_no=last . Silly rabbit!

The Pineapple-soy Tofu looks REALLY good. Hmm trying some vegan food could be very cool. I know last week on Ellen there was a guy on there who wrote a book about it/meat animals. For the life of me I can’t recall his name. I would really like to read it to. If you don’t mind me asking where do you buy your tofu? I’m pretty sure that they don’t sell it at our one store. Do you have to go to a special store?

I find it in the same part of the store as the yogurt and cheese in my local grocery store. If they don’t have it there, they’d almost certainly have it at any health food store. You’ll want to get the firm or extra-firm kind.

And yes…The pineapple-soy tofu is one of my best recipes. I- er, Mr. Bunny, just added a few new ones too.

Hi, Im horrible at recomending things other people like as most things I like people end up hating (at least around here) but I thought I would try. For books if you dont have a specific genre I highly recomend the Twilight book series. I just started getting into them a few months ago after a friend begged me for months to read them and im really loving them. Most people really dislike them though since there so popular. As for websites, if you like anything fashion Polyvore is awesome. You can do so much on it. For music Im really liking Paramore and anything by the Fray right now. I hope this helps some.

I actually liked Twilight. I really didn’t think I would but I did. It was a cute read. Didn’t Paramore write songs for the Twilight movies? I LOVe the Fray. There music has SO much meaning in it. I’m not much for fashion this days but I’ll check Polyvore out Isn’t that the site where you can make outfits & such?

Here are my favorite food blogs:

                      thepioneerwoman.com/

                      crockpot365.blogspot.com/

                      closetcooking.blogspot.com/

                      savorysweetlife.com/

                      smittenkitchen.com/

                      steamykitchen.com/

Some of my favorite authors are Janet Evonavich (Stephanie Plum series), Sue Grafton, PD James, Elizabeth George and honestly just about every book I see at Target – I really love their book selection which is why I never ever go to that section or else I’d be broke, broke, broke.

                          Books:
I love the “Earth’s Children” series by Jean M. Auel. They have a great heroine and Auel’s historical research is meticulous. The first one is “Clan of the Cave Bear”. (It’s also the best one, as is usually the case.)

I also really liked the first few books in the “Outlander” series by Diana Gabaldan, although I lost interest after the third or forth one.

The Kushiel’s Dart series is also a fav of mine…can’t remember the author… Jacqueline something…

And, of course, I love anything by Michael Crichton.

Smittenkitchen.com is my favorite food blog. We had a party last night and I made 4 recipes from there (for the first time) and they were all fantastic! I just love her taste in food and her photography makes me want to make every single recipe.

If you want a book about food, I think you would like Ruth Reichl’s book “Garlic and Sapphires”. It’s about her time as the NY Times food critic. She had to dress up as different characters in order to stay under the radar at these restaurants and it’s pretty funny.

Have you read Watership Down? That’s required reading for all bunny owners 😛

If you like non-fiction books, Richard Preston has some great ones. “Wild Trees” is about redwoods in California and “Dinosaurs in the Attic” is about the founding of the Natural History Museum in NYC and how they got a lot of the artifacts. They’re not dry at all and read more like fiction than non-fiction.

Have you read anything by W Somerset Maugham? He’s one of my favorite authors. His books are relatively short and easy to read and I love his style of writing. I think “Of Human Bondage” is his best (though it’s by far his longest one). It’s semi-autobiographical about his life – growing up in the country, going to London to go to med school, falling in love with a girl who doesn’t love him back.

my favourite food website is still http://www.allrecipes.com – I’m on there all the time scoping out new recipes.  Right now I’ve got some mushrooms in the fridge that I have to find something to do with so I’ll be checking there later.

as for websites, I tend to go with the easy-going stuff:

http://www.icanhascheezburger.com – I think everyone and their dog (cat?) goes there.

http://www.cakewrecks.com – if you haven’t been on there then set aside a good few hours because once you start looking through it you won’t want to leave.  Sundays are the really nice cakes, Monday-Friday are the ones that get messed up beyond belief.  Here’s a sample:

Haha opps sorry mocha. I was thinking that you were older I really like The Vampire Diaries, the show is okay. Not horrible but it’s not as good as it could have been. I adore Boys Like Girls, all the rest to be honest I have not really listened to. I’ll go on youtube & check them out. Right now I’m reading……. http://www.zambooie.com/twloha/Detail.tpl?cart=12698100452956459&st_id=234&sku=TWLBOOK100
I do not recomend reading this if your under 18 though. I know I’m under 18, but I’ve dealt with a bunch of this crappy stuff. This book is VERY painful to read. Very, very painful & it’s not for everybody. What does everybody think of Harry Potter? I myself adore it & would wait up many nights when I was younger thinking that a letter from Hogwarts was on it’s way. lol

Harry Potter is awesome!! I was always a bit older than the age range it was written for, but I adore it. I think it’s the most well written young adult books out there. My mom got me the whole set for Christmas and I just re-read them a few months ago – before that I had only read each book once not long after they came out, so I hardly remembered most of the story.

Monkey, I think I’ll definitely be re-reading them every year now that I own the set! I love them. We also re-watched all of the movies in order, so I’m excited to see the new one this summer.

I used to read Lord of the Rings ever year, but I haven’t read it in maybe 2 or 3 years now. I’m currently going back through all of the the Jane Austen books, but I think LotR will have to be next on my list. I also have a few Dickens books left to read so I can say I’ve read all of his books. Charley, have you read Austen or LotR? You might enjoy both! I started with my least favorite Austen book, but I’m almost ready to start Emma, my second favorite 🙂

And I’m with you on fast reading. I hate reading anything less than 200 or 300 pages because I go through it so fast. I love a good 800 page book that will last me a while (especially things like Dickens – much slower reading than 800 pages of Harry Potter, for example).

It’s funny that you mentioned Jane Austen, Elrohwen since Emma just came in. I’m going to read it once I finish Purpose for The Pain. It looks really good Lord Of The Rings is REALLY good, but I do think that The Hobbit is better. The special effects in the movies are amazing ( maybe that’s just the theater kid in my though.) Has anybody read The Hunger Games? I’m excited for the third one to come out.

My favorite concerts to listen to are probably the Listener Supported album, Live at Central Park, and Live at Luther College. The last one, luther, is only Dave on acoustic guitar and an amaaazing guitar player, also on acoustic. They do a ton of DMB songs on acoustic only, its amazing. They have a song for every mood. The more popular ones that were on the radio are Ants Marching, Crush, Where Are You Going… also, listen to #41 (Listener Supported and live at luther are both amazing, and so different), Two Step, Typical Situation (live at luther is a great version), Cry Freedom, Granny, Tripping Billies, So Damn Lucky, So Much to Say, Too Much…. I could go on forever. Anyways, check ’em out. Also, I lovelovelove Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Cake, Pearl Jam, Bush, 30 Seconds to Mars, Our Lady Peace… Def check out Dave Matthews Band, Breaking Benjamin, and Pearl Jam.

Books — The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Starts with “The Gunslinger”. It’s so amazingly epic. Also, I second the Earth’s Children series.

I like the Mugglenet website and listening to the podcasts. It’s fun listening to the kids having discussions about the books and going through the books with a finetooth comb to find clues. My son used to make fun of me for reading them, but by book 4 I was finding them in his room and he got hooked.

I remember in grade school that “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” was so popular that it was hard to snatch it up at the library but once I did, I was hooked.

If anybody here is a big musical fan I strongly suggest getting…. Broadway Musicals- The 101 Greatest Shows Of All Time: Ken Bloom & Frank Vlastnik.

Definitely read Emma. I love that book! That and Pride and Prejudice are by far my favorites. And both movies (the 5.5 hr BBC version of P&P and the new BBC/PBS version of Emma) are really good. I can watch them over and over again.

Has anyone read Eragon? I really liked the first one! The second book was ok, not great, so I’ve put off buying the third because I’m afraid it will be awful  I should get around to it some time though. I also like the Golden Compass series, though mostly only the first book on that one too. Didn’t see the movie, but I got the books around the time the movie came out.

I’m also waiting for the third Eragon to go to paperback. You’ll have to read it first and let me know how it is! I heard it’s not great, but I kind of feel like I *have* to read it, since I read the first two. The second did drag on quite a bit though.

http://www.mugglenet.com was started years ago by a kid who was only 10 or 11 I think. Just as a fan site, but it grew fast. He has other kids that volunteer with website editing, designing, forums, etc…I say kids, now these’ kids’ are 19-20 and in college. They keep up with news items, interviews, podcasts, etc and it’s just fun to visit.

I like to go to the Fan Fiction area and read because some of those young people really have a lot of talent writing their own stories and keeping JK’s characters totally in character. There are a couple that are so totally funny, I save them for reading on a down day. If you can imaging a well-written story about Severus Snape going speed-dating and it’s written so it’s absolutely believeable!

I may try the Narnia series once I finish Watership Downs.

I scoured the half-price books until I had a paperback copy of every book, but everytime my daughter comes to visit I seem to be missing a few, so I hide my favorites, Cold Fire, Whispers, etc.
