Ok so I got Rosie when she was 3 months old. A month later I got Willow. Rosie is now 9 months and Willow is almost 5 months. I got Rosie spayed Jan. 18th and once I have enough money Willow will be spayed and that will be soon. Rosie is still showing A LOT of aggression towards Willow. When Willow is running around Rosie will try to get to her through her cage which is used with chicken wire (homemade). Willow seems completely fine with her and she's not even spayed. I never see any aggression, only curiousity. She'll put her face up to the chicken wire to sniff Rosie and Rosie will go crazy!!! It seems like I'm never going to be able to bond them.... Any suggestions?

I think you should wait with the bonding until Rosie's hormones are back to a normal level...and perhaps until Willow is spayed as well. Even if Rosie is spayed, Willow's intact scent may set off some less friendly reactions. But until then, feed them next to each other on each side of the cage, so they associate something nice with each other and Rosie will relax around Willow. It is not easy to eat and be aggressive at the same time.

Don't let them near one another until Wiillow's spay has been taken care of and healed up. Willow is being agreeablle toward Rosie because Willow's hormones have not kicked in yet at her age. The aggression you are seeing from Rosie is territorial. Start with short meetings in a neutral place one month after Willow's spay and go from there. What is happening right now between your two girls will make bonding them harder. Keep them away from each other. Never attempt to bond any rabbit that is intact.

I absolutely agree that you need to wait until Willow is spayed and allowed to heal for at least a month or two. Two females are typically the most difficult of any sex combination to bond. And as Petzy was saying, it is possible to make matters worse by stressing the rabbits out before they are ready to be bonded. They can develop a negative association with each other... and if that happens, chances are slim they'll ever successfully bond. Willow should be old enough to be spayed at 6 months. Is that when you are having it done?

I hope that's when I'll be having it done. I have to pay so I've been saving up. I have about $150 and need $100 more so it shouldn't take that long ( I hope)
