  Depends on how much money it would cost. If we’re talking about under $250,000 a year to do it, then I’m behind it. Anything more and I think that the money could go somewhere better. Even if such a list was posted, the effect it would have would be minimal at best.
  - Pet stores won’t check the database before selling animals
  - Shelters won’t check the database before letting animals be adopted
  - Some of the more respectable rescues would but anyone who would be abusive to an animal wouldn’t go there
  - Won’t change the way the farms do things now since any such violation would basically shut them down. It might stop a few people from being hired but they tend to look out for those people and actions because they don’t want to be shut down.

  This is interesting. Like Markus said, I don’t know how much difference it would make… unless of course Maryann looked up the abusers’ addresses on her blackberry and then went on a rampage… lol.

  OMG Mark that’s a cute graphic! Where did that come from?
  If we had anything like that in Alaska it would get slammed with input…simply because there are so many animals here that are poorly cared for or even appear so. Not to mention that folks around here will call the shelter just to report a dog that annoys them in the yard next door, even if it is well treated.
  Of course I only just found out about some person who’s lived here in our subdivision for years that is a sex offender…had no idea, so…are these registries really helpful?
  I can think of a few of my neighbors I’d like to list whom I suspected of poisoning some of my dogs. >_<
  I can’t read all of this article…I got to the tail docking thing and I’m just sick.
  Guess I’m too emotional today to be opining on this subject. ~_~
