Yay Marshmallow is spayed!!!! The vet had a cancellation and I was able to snag the spot this morning I am ecstatic!

Granted after the last time I was so scared I burst into tears when they started to take her. I fed her so many treats and junk this morning I am surprised she didn’t pop in case she wasn’t coming home with me. But the vet insisted I stay while they spayed her in case something like the last time happened so they could make a quick decision. I sat in the waiting room with all the other pet owners except I was the only one that would be ok then start bawling like a baby lol. But they understood being pet owners and one woman let me hold her puppy while I waited  it was nice since my oldest dog is passing away and the puppies not being here so he was my placeholder.

When they came out my heart was beating a million miles a minute terrified they were going to tell me she didn’t make it. But she came to get me since Marshmallow was waking up. Let me tell you I have never seen a more mad bunny in my life. She was doped up but as soon as the nurse reached in clamp right onto her hand and would not let go the nurse was eeping and screeching finally she was pried off.

They put some hay romaine and parsley in with her and some water and being my piggy she sat there until nothing was left but a tiny bit of water.

So now we are home and she is not happy with me at all every time I look at her she thumps even if I am just looking toward her. But if my mom or someone comes in with a piece of a raisin it is all happy mellow.  Little brat…

Pacey refuses to leave her pen door he never escapes his pen but right now you put him in he just hops back out and goes back to loafing or flopping by her door it is adorable so I am just letting him.

I am just so happy this is over with FINALLY!

And I met another indoor bunny owner there (not common around here but I am slowly converting more people lol) they actually started keeping their bunny indoor because of a class I hold at the local shelter about care of bunnies and other small pets. It was nice since most people look at me like I have a third eye or something when I tell them my rabbits are in my house not outside. She had a flemmie named Jack and he was gorgeous (I wanted to steal him) and all the little dogs were petrified of him.

          WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!
This is great! You must be so relieved it’s over with. She’s a champion! Well, good thing you didn’t mention the spay here so we could get all worried with you….*roll eyes*

Healing and happy (((vibes))) to Marshmellow Girl.

Great about the house bunny convert too – you may have started a wave

Lol I probably would have made a thread but it was literally like wake up vet called 10 minutes later we were out the door it was crazy I barely had time to get dressed

I am beyond relieved it is over I was a nervous wreck but it was sooo worth it. Maybe now I will be able to get her to use her litter box for something other than sleeping lol.

I get a kick out of some peoples reaction. One woman contacted me to see if I wanted to buy one of her rabbits I declined. But afterwards she asked me how I kept my rabbits and why all my pictures were inside I told her my rabbits were kept indoors she flipped out and started yelling at me telling me she wouldn’t ever let me have one of her rabbits because keeping a rabbit indoors was cruel and disgusting. I of course went into the whole speech and she called me a liar that rabbits cannot be litter box trained and blah blah blah. It was crazy! But mostly people either say ewww don’t they poop everywhere or are just amazed lol

Well there’s someone who does not need to be keeping rabbits. She yelled at YOU? Give me a break…what a harpy!
I am SO HAPPY for you that this has been accomplished! ^_^ Many strong and quick healing vibes for Marshmallow! ((((((((((((((((((Marshmallow)))))))))))))))
I am very familiar with sitting in the waiting room while pet is in surgery and I can imagine how it must have been. Thank God you are both at home and doing okay.

I’m sorry to hear your dog is ailing. And all the puppies were adopted at last? Ahhh…they were so irresistably cute!
I have one lovely mutt left and he is slowing down, you can see it and it’s so sad.

Anyway, congratulations! And I think a few extra nose rubs for Pacey are in order as well. ((((((((((((((((Pacey & Marshmallow))))))))))))))))))

Oh dear! We need a smiley icon with steam blowing out the ears. I thankfully haven’t had to face anything like that. I don’t know how I would react to someone saying I was cruel by having them indoors.

On Marshmallow, did the vet say it was all straightforward? She’s all healthy? Just interested in spay for a little older rabbit. She is about 3? Only thing I have heard is it can be a little trickier due to fat around the organs.

Yeah she yelled at me kind of shocked me at first.

All the puppies were adopted by a woman and her co workers who owns a place called for paws unleashed it is a kennel / doggie daycare but looks more like a hotel lol all the rooms where the dogs stay have a flatscreen tv and actual like mini human beds. They get to go there everyday and play with other dogs and get training and all that. All I have to say is I would definitely not be sad to go there if I were a dog.

Yes my oldest dog is on his last leg he no longer eats or walks or anything only wants water and sleep. No vet can find anything wrong with him other than old age he is being fed through a tube but I know the look and he is close to the bridge and that is what is hardest that this isn’t something I can just run him to the vet and have them fix it. Old age can’t be fixed. I am going to miss him like nothing else…

Pacey is a spoiled butt lol I basically carry him around all the time you put him down he is like a toddler claws at your pants until you pick him back up.

Marshmallow will be 3 in November.

He said she is in perfect health.

I actually asked if he had any issues since I have read about older rabbits and spays. But he said it was just a normal spay that he didn’t have any trouble at all getting to or removing anything.

I have seen that look. It’s a heartbreaker. But if he’s still with you, he’s giving you time to say goodbye. Every day, hour and moment become more precious than the last.
I think every year for the last five years or so, I’ve looked at Shadow and thought, “This is it…this is the year he leaves me.” And yet he is still here. Even after GDV surgery and being almost 15 years old. He’s a strong boy. And when he does follow that call, I will miss him more than anything or anyone in my life. He is so heavily imprinted on my heart that I know I’ll never have another dog again. No one could stand up to his memory.

A doggie hotel, now THAT sounds real nice. I know how long you’ve hunted for a good place for the pups. Up here it’s the same, you can’t find anyone who’ll take a puppy who doesn’t want to strap him to sled or chain him in a yard and forget him so he’ll be a ‘good guard dog’….that’s such heinous behavior. This is hard country for any animal, even if it’s bred to be in the cold. Even though we’ve broken our bank to keep our dogs warm, healthy and happy, I won’t put another one through this life.

ANYWAY…enough maudlin rambling…that the vet said he got in and completed the job without any extraneous circumstance is champion! ^_^ I know you were worried about her reaction to the anesthesia…did they have to do anything special in that regard?

Sonn, I am soooo happy for you!!!!  I will be in that position next week.  You sound alot like me. I have only had rabbits since 2009 and I am so excited about them, but I live in a rural area and not many people here with them either. (at least as house rabbits) I usually get laughed at histarically when I mention a neuter or spay for a rabbit.  In fact, I have had people say some awful things as well.  We have to change that perception huh!?  I am glad to hear about your outcome and I am hoping for the same.  Where do you live?
