I had taken Cottons paper products away.  HE loves to chew anythign paper.

His lip looks better after a couple of weeks.   Then I gave him the cardboard box back.  3 days and his lip started looking worse again.  So I took it away for good now and cleaned up his lip.    His lip is looking better again.

        Go figure.

Yes he was upset but he has a grass v to chew and his wicker basket.   H loves them.  He still chews on my books some when I leave it lying uncovered.   And when I am reading them he tries.

I got the water filters too.   I think it is more the paper than the water now.

Did you tell the vet about this yet? I wonder if he could be sensitive to an irritant that is in the cardboard. Some cardboard/paper is acidic.

I called and left a msg for her friday.  She won’t be in til monday.    I need to take the scab off and treat it again.  I can see it but it isn’t as bad as it had been.

Cotton has been so happy.   He ran around the living room for 15 minutes.   He would leap in the air spin and land running in the opposite direction.   Then he would dart side to side.  Then spin in a circle and run up n down in front of the couches.

I am so glad we didn’t put him down.  He does have a good quality of life.  Such rabbitude too.

Huh! This would be amazing it cardboard has caused the trouble!! Could it be that the initial injury was the bite from the Princess but it wouldn’t heal due to being irritated by cardboard???? Time will tell. What sort of cardboard does he typically chew on? I got to thinking about the perfumed toilet rolls. I find them really strong so don’t buy them but I reckon the empty roll would become perfumed too. Probably something we all need to be cautious about with the rabbits.

What happens it the scab is left on? Does it cause swelling or something?

The cardboard boxes some were from BB  some from the grocery store.  They were all brown none had wax on them.  He totally ignores the toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls.  They all ignore them actually.

The lip Yeah big possibility Ruby bit him there and I didnt’ notice it right away.   At least I think she bit him there.   Pretty sure she did.   Then yes  the cardboard phonebook and newspaper may be irritating it.

The scabs keep coming back but since no paper products for Boo the scabs look different. His lip looks better too.  Even after I take the scab off it has been looking better.  I tended to it today.  I rubbed the chlorhexderm and the cream in a minute apart.  Then I petted him gave him a treat brushed him to delay him rubbing and grooming it off.

Cotton Boo is quite happy with his willow basket.  I may order him some more stuff.
