Hey Everyone!  I know it’s unrelated to bunnies but I need help trying to find a gift for my husband for Valentines Day!  Everyone always has such good ideas on this site with bunny behaviors, cage ideas, and other solutions to issues I figured I’d ask.  We’ve been married for a year and five months.  Our last valentines day was absolutely horrible.  We fought the whole day and it led to months of fighting and counseling.  Now that things are going well (finally!)  I really want to make up for last year.  We rented a hotel room and we are getting take out from our favorite resturant.  He seems to have something up his sleeve so I’m not sure what to get him.  He really doesn’t have too many hobbies, or has any favorite sports teams…..I’m just at a loss for ideas!  Thanks!!

I’m always a big fan of edible gifts. Would he enjoy a subscription to a beer or wine of the month club? Or is there a specialty food that he loves but doesn’t get to have very often?

Sounds like y’all have a fun evening planned!
I think when it comes to Valentines – you have to remember not to put too much stress on the day – One day is not more important than the rest of the days in the year!
The best gifts are something the person would like but would not buy for themselves. Of course, figuring out what that is can be tough.

The last “gift” I gave my husband was a mouse pad with a photo of Kay & Winston on it. He was using just a manila folder. Walgreen’s makes them pretty cheap. He loves it!!!

Sage Cat, mousepads have become my new favorite gift! I had no idea you could get them at Walgreens – I just went online and found a place that would make them for about $11, but Walgreens would’ve been easier. I made my sister-in-law some mousepads with Lolcats for Christmas 😉

                Hey katiep!

I’m so glad things are going well now. Sometimes (often) holidays can end up causing more strain and stress than happiness for couples and families alike!

What are your husband’s interests? If he likes to play Wii, you could get him a “him and her” chocolate mii set – http://dearlydevoted.blogspot.com/2008/01/nintendo-wii-chocolate-avatars-for-you.html I gave Stan them one Valentine’s Day, and they were SO cute.

If it’s cold where you are, you could get him a Slanket. It’s like a Snuggie, only better quality and doesn’t pill in the wash. I got Stan one for Christmas and he said it was one of the best gifts I’ve ever given him. It’s long (like a blanket) but with sleeves and a cowl, and ours are brown so we look like Jedi!

Also, one Valentine’s Day Stan stayed up all night while I slept making homemade chocolate truffles. When I got up for work, I found them in the fridge as a surprise!

Or, since you’re planning an intimate evening at a hotel room… you could always get yourself some sexy (for him to see you in… ooh la la!)

Give us some of his likes and dislikes and maybe we can come up with some more ideas : P

My initials are VS. I have gotten some very nice items from Victoria’s Secret – and bonus, they have my initials on them!!!

Well, if it was my husband- some type of electronic gizmo that he absolutely does not need would make him happy- GPS, larger storage MP3 player, Wii, etc.

Eventually if I do not buy it for him he has two options- A) he either moves on and wants something else and that gizmo is forgotten or B) buys it as a gift for me (big sigh).  Nothing like grabbing “my” MP3 player and finding out he changed the playlist so he had something to listen to while mowing the lawn.  Because after “my” portable CD player died- he had to have something.

Thats my problem…he doesn’t really have ALOT of interests…at least stuff that I have no idea about. Our lives are pretty boring, we get up, go to work come home, play with bunnies, eat dinner, go to bed, and repeat….he plays online world of warcraft but there isn’t much i can give him to do anything with that…he is a bit of an electronic geek but he’s happy with his phone as it is a blackberry and it does anything he needs….i really like the idea of the beer of the month club because i know he likes exotic/dark beers….thanks for that idea…my other idea is a really nice bottle of scotch, he has an empty bottle of a decent brand from a while ago so i might get him the better kind….what do you guys think? i got the sexy outfit covered already too! Thanks!

I think you’d be surprised how many men would probably prefer just alone time with their lady on Valentine’s Day as opposed to having to worry themselves about what they should bring home to keep from getting in trouble. lol…

My hubby is a little different. He was talking about all the work he was having to do on the car to get it up and running before he has to have dental surgery next week and I know it’s crunch time at this point…so when his face cringes and he says, “Oh, but I can’t work on it Sunday because that’s Valentine’s Day,” I replied, “So?”
He seemed stunned for a moment and smiled and then said, “Okay, that’s my present for you then.”
                            *eyeroll*
He would’ve forgotten that it was coming up anyway no matter if you hung a big red heart in front of his face all week….so, I let him off the hook.

I think as we age, holidays in general begin to mean a little less. It becomes just another day. I like to think of my birthday that way too…lol…just ignore it and it’ll go away for another year.

You young kids are a joy to watch celebrate it though.

My bf is hard to buy for too-it’s not that he doesnt’ have interests-its that he has way more money then me and he buys what he wants! For xmas I replaced his deep fryer (Which he uses everyday-gross!) with a new bigger one and gave it to him in peices lol and a saw I knew he didn’t have yet. I had to break into his shed and scope it out before hitting the hardware store.

                              I’d suggest….
new wallet, a nice one that’s practical-nice leather and fits in the pocket and has good pouches.
A watch-a manly one with lots of features.
A computer game or video game-look online for new games with good reviews or the latest hit

                              I’d steer clear of:
Personal products-men like to choose their own scent so I don’t bother with that
                              clothing-ditto
books-dunno still working on getting Dave to read books that aren’t texts but I find most men don’t read..

OH You know what would be cool? I love this gift-a magezine subscription. There are sooo many. I found a canadian history mag for my grandpa for three years and this year added a mag just on WWII -seriously google you can find a mag for ANY interest he has And it’s rad because they get 6-12 issues all year!

Or you know, Vicotria Secret and a steak always cuts the mustard

I can’t buy much for my hubby, he always buys what he wants when he sees or hears about it. So games and movies and such are out of the question Clothes he is sooo picky, books, he rarely reads unless its a programming book, magazines he doesn’t like, personal products… yeah right

if he likes exotic/dark beers you could do the beer of the month thing or go to world market and get a medley of beers. ask someone there who knows beers to help you. my boyfriend and i brew our own beer and are pretty big beer enthusiasts and we started out by trying new beers at world market. our typical date night would be a new beer and a movie at the house. pretty good times =)

good luck! i hope y’all have a nice little getaway.

Maybe even a starter kit for brewing his own?

Jers, I was just going to say the same thing! I got hubby a starter kit a few years ago that had all of the buckets, sterilization equipment, and ingredients. All we needed to provide were the bottles (we washed out used bottles we had, but you can also buy empty ones). It was really fun! We keep meaning to make some more beer but haven’t gotten around to it. The kit made about 50-55 beers.
