I caught this video on Bella Luna’s page when I saw her other cute video and found the source (I think??)….whatever…what i just said probably didn’t make sense to anyone. LOL.  But here’s a video of clicker trained rabbit.   So if anyone says rabbits aren’t smart, you can show them this.

          *is imagining teaching Moosie tricks*

I know Monkey wouldn’t be impressed, but Moosie is a possibility… hmmmmm

The woman in that video (her name escapes me) really pioneered bunny clicker training and her buns do some amazing things. Great video!

Haha, yeah this is what kinda inspired me. Honestly there are SO many different species that can be clicker trained, its amazing! Ava only knows three things right now, but I think that pretty impressive for only working with her a week and a half!

That’s a great vid to share BB! This was the video that inspired me to start teaching Leroy some tricks! I just recently bought a clicker though, so I’m sure he’ll improve much more quickly now! So far, Leroy comes when I whistle, and does “spin” and “stand” and “walk” (on hind legs) he’s got those down pat now (though he still has trouble with his balance! ) and also he touches his “target” stick! We’re working on “go home” right now, so I don’t have to chase him back to his crate when I leave.

Barbie, your “go home” trick reminded me of what Otto does every night. I tell him it’s time for bed, and he clearly knows what it means (he gets his dinner when he goes back, so there’s a big incentive) but he’s so afraid fo the floors that he’ll sit on the rug and stare across the dining room at his cage. It’s so pitiful though when he wants to do it, but can’t bring himself to cross the floors. What a wuss.

Thank you for that video! Great.

I got a clicker a while ago and a book on clicker training (cats). I started out with Molly, and she was really good at it, but it was so difficult because the two others were interfering all the time, so eventually I gave up. She only learned targeting. Then I tried on my cat instead, who was good at it as well, but I didn’t know what to teach him and gave up.

So, well, I am the stupid one when it comes to clicker training, which is such a shame ’cause I think most animals would enjoy this mental stimulation. But this video inspired me.

My friend had a big bun that his father would open the front door for and it would go out and drag back in the newspaper.

I wish I could teach Otto to fetch something! That would be so cute.

The newspaper story is amazing. How long did it take him to train that? With most bunnies I imagine it would take forever, but I could see his bunny being special and inclined to fetch things.

I took a whole full-day clicker training class at HRS (presented by bunssb.com trainers— and the lady in the video looks really familar!). We were training the shelter bunnies there to the end of of stick with their nose within 1/2 hour. One of the tricks is to recognize each bunnies “boredom” point and not push it. (Also, some bunnies are more affection motivated than food motivated) Bailey liked getting both treats and snuggles as rewards, but she also would want to stop paying attention after about five minutes. I started training Jack who was VERY treat motivated, so I had to cut stuff in tiny itsy bitsy pieces. (it’s also a good idea to train around meal time so you can just use their normal food as training “treats”. Jack would be done with training after about 10 minutes. But he did very well and then I just stopped doing it.

I would like to get back into because I think Viv would be good at it. She is a quick learner!

Most any bunny can learn. Some are quicker than others.

Some are just too contrary to as well… Monkey would murder me if I taught her “tricks”.

BB, was her name Andrea? Her last name is still on the tip of my tongue but I can’t think of it. Something hyphenated I think.

The BB store!  Jennifer sells the “i-click” which is the clicker I have.  I really like it!

Oh, I’m glad you like that clicker, Barbie! I love that I can click and hold a treat with one hand, letting me do something else with the other hand. The click sound is also much softer and less annoying (for my ears at least) than my regular clicker.
