I got ahold of the lady for speutering!

She’s sending me the voucher in my email tonight! It’s only 70 for my male, 100 for females!!

I’m getting Indy done first since he has my room to run around and is peeing on me in bed!

I’ll be setting up an appt soon with one of the vets as soon as she gets my check!!

I was scared that my rabbits had to be adopted from a shelter, I was so funny trying to tell her “well I kind-of rescued Indy, some old man dumped them off in a cage at a feedstore, and Bun was adopted off craigslist to be rehomed” Buuuut, rescue/purchase isn’t the case here! yeeeee! I’m so happy! I was really worried at the vet I was going to be charged so much more, but she said they would check out the bunny for pre-op, and if everying is okay, they will go ahead with the surgery and give you pain meds if you want after will be a few bucks but its 70!

that”s really great news, Lintini! So cheap! Even with the pain meds it will be under a hundred for the neutering.

How old is Bun? The reason I ask is because if she is an older rabbit she should be considered to be spayed first. Female rabbits as young as 2 years old can get uterine cancer so in my opinion she should be first, but that’s just my opinion and I don’t know her age.

Bun is 2 years old. I have the money to get her done now as well, so she and Indy should both be done by the end of February. The thing that will take the longest is the check via snail mail to the spuerter director then snail mail back for my voucher. I asked to drop off money and pick it up, but apparently she works out of her house, and the mailbox is a P.O. box. Blargh

I was so concerned with money because I didn’t know if they will charge me 50$ to check my bun over then oh 25$ for this, 30 for that, so now it’s set in stone 70 and 100 …no problems.

I’ll probably get Bun done the weekend after Indy. Hopefully they will let me get them done on Saturday’s since its my only free day.

Yay! That’s awesome! What a crazy low price. I’m sure Indy will settle down a lot and maybe Bun will be a little less diva-esque now 😉

I guess we were lucky.  At our amimal shelter, they ask for a $35.00 “donation” per rabbit so it only cost us $70.00 total for both Gulliver & Lainey .  Their policy is all rabbits MUST be speutered prior to adoption.  They won’t adopt out babies either.  We try to give donations when finances allow…kinda tight these days.  I thought about volunteering but it is about 40 miles each way which takes a big chunk out of a day.  I did meet a local breeder & rescue couple when looking for someone to trim my bunz nails for me & she said I could come by anytime & give lovin’ to her bunz.  All her bunz are held since birth & since Gulliver HATES to be held (got new scratches yesterday attempting) and Lainey just tolerates it I thought it would be helpful to her and FUN FUN FUN for me.  She lives less than a mile from my home so its a no-brainer.  She has some older neighborhood kids that she gives “bunny lessons” to & then they come by & play & hold bunnies.  Guess I better get off my keester & give her a buzz!!!

                        That is lucky Lucy!

but unfortunetly I adopted Bun off craigslist because her owners were moving over-seas and Indy I got from a feedstore from a man just dumping them there. And Blossom I got from a store and I feel guilty for not adopting/rehoming but I couldn’t leave without her. So I didn’t get the benefit from adopting from a shelter from either 3 poo.

Lintini:  So your “one of those” that gets a heart tug from animals and POOF, they’re yours !  I keep mentioning another bun but Ken just looks at me like I’m crazy & says “your kidding, right?”  Then we laugh…the end!  And by the way, my name is Sue…Lucy is our 14 year old tuxedo cat that rules the house & bunz, hence Lucy’s two bunnies…

Well I was looking on craigslist for quite a while, I used to email people looking for cages for their small animals and I would link cavycages to them and all the info where to buy grids, costs, etc. And then I ran into the owner of Bun desperately trying to rehome her because they couldn’t take her to Scotland with her. Bun won some 4H shows I guess back in Illinois, I have some of her papers with her being “grand champion” I brag to my mom about it often :p We didn’t have 4H in my schools here in the bay …I wish I did though. I probably would have gone into vet medicine then. Indy I saw at the feedstore, him and his siblings were is a disgusting condition, covered in pee and all cramped in a single cage. You can see photos around here somewhere when I first got him. They said an old man just dropped them off. But they still charged me 10 bucks for him. But I’d pay 1000 for how cool he turned out. And blossom I found on my search to get my friend Mike and rabbit, which he got her brother. But yea I am totally impulsive and that has hurt me for saving up money for spueters.

But today I was very well behaved when shopping for grids and towels. I saw this optimus prime backpack for only 16 bucks and I REALLY wanted it but didn’t put it in my cart. And then there was a really nice shade of blue nail polish I wanted but…I left it on the shelf and went to the checkout lane with what I came for, grids and towels! Woot!
