Sort of an update on my rabbit help thread. We got to keep her!! My neighbors didn’t seem to give a crap- they just said I ‘can have her if I want her’. I’ve named her Ava.

Short back story for those who don’t know: I found a rabbit in my front yard last week. Caught her that evening. She belonged to my neighbors but has been living wild for the past month.

We’ve been told that she’s definitely female (guess my internet-acquired bunny sexing skills are up to par after all!), under a year old, and not spayed. She’s got a vet appointment for next week, which is the soonest we could get her in.

Honestly, I think she’s the most work out of all my pets right now haha. More than the horses even. But that’s mainly because she’s not completely litter trained yet (she will pretty much pee 100% in the box, but poops- which I’ve taken to calling Cocoa Puffs haha- are a hit and miss thing). I’m hoping this will improve with spaying.

Work or not, I’m in love with her! She’s really sweet for having been fending for herself for the past month, and living in a barn before that. She likes to stay in her comfortable space, and will often sit in her ‘area’ even when I move the pen, but she does occasionally come out to investigate. I moved my entire room around in order to make space for her, and now she’s set up along the length of one wall, in an xpen with a crate attached, so her entire space measures about 9ftx3ft.

        so pics:

Drat! I can’t see the pics at work so I’ll have to wait until I get home to have a sneaky peak!

That’s so awesome you’ve caught her and have given her such a good home; 9ftx3ft – lucky girl! If she’s peeing in the litter box 100% then you could almost consider her fully litter trained since bunnies will mark their territory and boundaries with cocoa puffs (lol!). You’re right in saying this should improve with spaying but my girls still manage to leave about 25% of their’s all over their pens!

As for your neighbours…I can’t believe people are so neglegent. Makes me so angry… If you don’t mind I’m going to post up a rant about it on another thread! Clever girl for fending for herself!

What a beautiful girl! I love that second photo of her squoushed down by the bowl, it’s like she saying Thank God I’m Home! It’s so good of you to take her in. I had horses too, and I agree, bunnies can be just as much work.

Wow – a bunny would not have survived a month where I live. She is a very lucky girl! So glad you are able to keep her.
Ditto on her looking ” like she saying Thank God I’m Home!” in that second photo.
My pair also leave “coco puffs around their pen.

The coco puffs will lessen once she’s established that the area is hers. Until then, just buy a dust buster.

I was re-reading your post and saw that you had horses! You should definitely start a thread on them because I have total horse envy 😉

Plus, bunnies and horses are very similar (diet and personality) – so I’m sure you’re already well on your way to being a bunny mommy if you can handle horses!

Such a beautiful bunny! Neighbors didn’t want her?? Pffft! Their loss! Gosh people can be so stupid. (Sorry, I just can’t stand it when people just dump an animal because it’s convenient and expect someone else to come along and pick up their slack.)
But thank God you came along! ^_^ I love that squishy pic too…nothing more beautiful than a full on loppy floppy! ^_^ Congrats on bringing home such a treasure!

I love the last picture of her opening her mouth to grab whatever nommy treat you’re feeding her and the second one with the big flop by the bowl. I used to have a horse (sadly, not any more ) and the barn I boarded her at had the same buckets for the horses’ grain
