I just got one of the Samsung models of the GoPhone from my hubby this Xmas. I’ve got it all set up and activated, no fancy wallpapers or ringtones, just waiting to be used when we go to town. It has a small minutes package on it, that I can call anywhere in the world with for $3.00 per day. Here’s the problem:

I have given NO ONE the number. This morning, the phone rings! 0_0 Of course, I answer it, thinking there might be some kind of message from AT&T I have to listen to. But it turns out to be some (I think) bill collector looking for someone else! (What the…??)  I tell them wrong number and hang up. My phone then tells me I’ve been billed the $3.00 charge for the day! How do you like that?! *fumes*

I can’t find ANY live body to speak to either on the site or on the phone itself (their free help is definitley an example of you get what you pay for) to see about getting this resolved or get my money back. A) I was under the impression this was a NEW number. B) They’re got some cheek charging me for 15 seconds on the phone like that. C) It wasn’t even someone I WANTED to talk to! (grrr!)

So I’m thinking I’m going to remove the battery from the phone and that way, until I need it, I won’t be answering it thinking there’s someone I know trying to get hold of me. But I’m not sure that won’t wipe out my activation and then either make the phone useless, or I’ll have to re-activate it all over again…if that can even be done. >_<

Does anyone else have one of these blasted things? I was so looking forward to feeling better about being able to get ahold of the hubby in an emergency, but this is ridiculous!

Oh wow… I have no clue. SO you only pay $3 if you use the phone THAT DAY? That’s kinda cool, esp. if you really don’t NEED a cell, you just want it for emergencies. Is there a website you can go to to find out the customer service phone number?

So you get charged even if someone else calls you? mmm…. Could the caller have been a scam caller?

I dont’ know how to fix it except to get ahold to AT&T email online or call.   It is so frustrating when you call and can’t get a person.

If you answer it again and it a bill collector you have the right to demand they remove this # from their records as it is not who they are looking for and you just got this #

Now also they have a computer call you too and those you can’t get rid of unless you call the co. with the account # they leave on your phone.

              Sucks

It did sound like a human voice on the other end…there was no real cadence of a computer voice. And yeah, if I hadn’t just woken up and my head weren’t foggy, I’d have demanded how they got the number and torn them a new one for calling so early. Honestly I just thought it was annoying and hung up…then the screen shows I’ve lost time…*mutter mutter mutter*

I did try both to call and to research it online. Calling the help line just gets you computer options…no real bodies. Then the site decides to pick that moment to go down for maintenance. When it came back up, no sign of the info I was looking for. I think I’m going to just have to eat it.

I may think of changing plans, because I’m not paying $3 every time some doofus calls me looking for the deadbeat who had the number before me. >_<
