hey yall, i built max and penny a three story rabitat from nic cubes, but they are confused- they don’t jump up onto the second and third floor. i put raisins on the upper floors but they still haven’t jumped up onto the floors.

        any pointers?

Maybe try putting them on the top floor & a raisin on the lower 2 floors.
Let them jump down 1st & then put their favorite treat (banana maybe) on the floor above.

What kind of floors do you have?
Mine slip & fall when jumping from flat slippery surfaces so I have carpeted floors for traction.
Wood would work too, however both soak up pee & spills so if you want easy to clean tile or vinyl floors you may need ramps or
to set up a step system – like a 7 inch (1/2 cube) box for them to jump on 1st & then up the rest of thhe way.
I did the step system when Bugsy was still a baby.

You might have to do a half-step like Furface described… or a shoe box or something for them to jump to until they get the hang of it… or you could try covered ramps until they are comfortable… And like she said, you don’t want it to be slippery, did you put down fabric, pet beds, carpet squares or something stationary? Can you take a pic and show us how it looks?

yeah they have carpet on the floors so its not slippery, but i’ll try the shoe box thing and yes i’ll post pictures later tonight!

We started out with putting a box underneath the opening to the next level to give them the hint that hey guys you can go up there We’ve still got one in one spot but other than that they’re now used to hopping between levels.

I used to have a wood ramp with carpet on it in Marlee’s cage. She never “walked” on it, but would jump kinda off it to make it to the next floor. Then she started chewing the carpet so I had to take it out…and now she just jumps up there.

oh yay! glad it worked for you

it took pinky a while to figure out the levels. even after i lined the floors with fake sheepskin for traction. now the top level is her fav perch for naps!

                        can’t wait to see pics
