  We have just added this little ditty about using first and last names in your display names.
  - Members under 18 cannot use their first and last name in their DISPLAY name.
  - We also suggest that even if you are over 18 that you never use your first name with your last name when creating a Dispay name. (Note: User name is what you login with and Display name is the name others see)

  once you change your display name, you can say this was previously (FIRST NAME ONLY) when you post for the first time with the new Display name.
  
  NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE YOUR DISPLAY NAME IF THIS NEW RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

  I am curious why is this. I mean just use the first or last part of the name not the full name I understand the new rule not to do it but I was wondering why. Just curious

  I think it’s just for safety. So people on here don’t pick up stalkers or anything, especially since all the foum topics are viewable to non BB members.

  Yes, it’s just a safety precaution that we feel is necessary for our younger members and just a suggestion for our older members.
  
  It’s for the same reason we have the “message” center now instead of just direct emails – so it can offer members a way to safely communicate with each other without revealing private emails unless they feel they can trust each other. We don’t want to make anyone paranoid or frightented of course — The internet is a great place for all of us to come together and have fun, but I think it’s also smart to be cautious in this type of format.

  What about initials? Mine are hidden in my display name. I use that name for everything now too.

  No first or last name in your display name, so your forum name Frapp You’re fine with your bunny’s name in your display name.

  I’m reading Binky Bunny’s advice as “try not to use your 1st and last name together ” correct?
  I don’t think it matters if you mention you 1st name here or there.
