We had a very chaotic evening at my house.  Jezebel came downstairs from my bedroom (where she stays while I’m at work) and sniffed at Ozzie and Oliver like she has every day this week and for some reason the rabbits FLIPPED. OUT.  Those rabbits were racing around like maniacs and jumped over the pen!  This scared the bejeezus out of Jezebel who went tearing out the back door, the rabbits would not let me or Amber get near them to try to calm them down (and also capture them since they were not outside of the pen).  I grabbed the carrier and we got the boys into it and i put them in the corner where it was quiet so they could calm down.

Amber was in tears and declaring her hatred for the dog, whom she really does love, just not more than her rabbits I guess.

And I went to work building them an actual cage with left over nic grids from the last time I re-did the big rabbit cage.  I got it done in record time, about an hour and a half, and they are now inside it hopping around like this afternoon never happened.  Maybe they feel more secure with a roof?  Jezebel is cautiously checking them out and the rabbits are ignoring her, just like normal.

I ran out of zip ties and I am pleased to report that duct tape is holding the door on quite nicely until I can get more.

My living room now looks like  a stye.  There’s hay and fur EVERYWHERE.  And I’m too wiped out to clean it up.  Building cages always saps the energy out of me.

This is the best laugh I had! Great report, Tarm. I can just see it… well, all I need to do is think back on those times before my Lint trusted our dogs. There is no stopping a spooked bunny.
So duct tape, you say in place of zipties? Good idea, will try one day.

Ahhh duct tape. Wonderful invention that is. Only thing it doesn’t work on is ironically, heating ducts…

ahh duct tape. i thought using duct tape on random things was distinctly canadian. apparently not

i get exhausted from building cages too… don’t worry bout the kerfluffle mess… it’ll wait for you until you’re rested! lol. i wonder why the buns flipped out? was there a noise that happened when jezebel sniffed them?

It’s clean. I couldn’t stand looking at it. Plus the dogs had dug through it all and sucked up all the poops. Gross animals.

I have no idea why they freaked. They never have before. I wasn’t watching closely, I was in the room, I just know one second it was quiet and the next rabbits were flying through the air and bouncing off the wall and the dog was screaming and high tailing it out of the house. I keep checking on them because they freaked so hard to make sure no one has a post-kerfluffle stroke. I also checked to make sure no one broke a leg.

Poor Amber was so shaken up I had a hard time calming her down and all she wanted was to make sure her rabbits were OK. I think Jezebel is lucky to still be living here.

Ahhh…duct tape…the handyman’s secret weapon. (Red Green, eh?) Or in my house, may as well be like the American Express card because you don’t fix home without it. lolz.

Jeez, I hate when stuff like this happens. And then someone gets extremely angry about a beloved pet who is suddenly the devil incarnate. I’m a victim of the feeling myself, so I’m not blaming kids in general. I hope everyone’s okay and settled down now.

Trust me TARM, NOBODY’S home is as much of a sty as mine and Thanksgiving is less than a week away…I almost wish I could demolish the house and build it up again rather than clean it! >.<
