pinky was stuck behind the couch in her room when i got home today

did i mention that the couch is blocked off by NIC grids 2-high?  did i mention that one end of the NIC fence is anchored to a heavy wooden dresser and the other to her enclosure?

        the culprit:

the cord protector that she successfully stripped off:

        the electrical work completed:

so apparently i was lucky not to come home to fried bunny since the fan was plugged in!  good grief!!!  i gave her a good exam, she seems to be moving around okay, behaving normally (aside from the scramble out from behind the couch when i chased her outta there) and she’s eating & pooping.  i can’t imagine how she’s normal.  she must have gotten a good shock.

anyhoo… off i go to check on her again.  i’ll be ‘on watch’ with her carefully for the next 24hrs to be sure she’s ok.  and i”l be trying to figure out how to prevent her from getting back there again.  oh and NO MORE CORDS IN HER ROOM AT ALL.  yeah.

Oh yeah, when he wants to get somewhere, my Leroy can jump over 2 NIC grids easily. Specially since the couch is right behind there, she probably saw an easy landing and went for it. Or… is there any way should could have gotten behind/under the dresser? I know Leroy can make himself REALLLLLY flat to squeeze though/under something if he’s determined enough. And yikes! That fan! Good thing she’s ok

I was of the opinion (eyeballing the distance from the top of that cardboard box to the relative safe landing on the couch) that bunnies do not have good enough depth perception to figure out a leap like that?
BAD Pinky. o_o Wouldn’t those toofies be put to better use in a carrot stick or a nice nanner?
Vibes that she will be perfectly fine regardless of the Romp Into Trouble. ^_^

MM… this is Leroy. The couch is RIGHT behind that fence! Of COURSE any bun worth her salt is going to try to make it out to freedom!  Don’t you know by now that we’re ALL mischevious little buggers!?

Pinky, a jump like that would be nothing for my powerful legs and althletic body

And also: carrots are great, but CORDS… mmmm.

She might have climbed out, too! Calypso has climbed over a three NIC high fence before. A couple of times, actually, because silly me thought that he’d found another way out until I caught him mid-climb. I’m glad that Pinky is okay… I’ve had a couple of scares with power cords. The problem is that buns are so darned RESOURCEFUL! And not in a good way. lol Good luck keeping the little miss contained now that she’s tasted sweet freedom…

lolz….Leroy is obviously an accomplished athlete! ^_^
Which reminds me…holy cow what a stretch in that ‘culprit’ picture! 0_o I remember seeing Mimzy stretch like that and being afraid he’d break his own back doing it. If their spines are so fragile, how come they can bend like gymnasts when they stretch that way?

Look at her limbering up for her next gymnastic stunt! Glad to hear she’s ok!! How long have you had this set up? Did she just decide now was the time to go exploring? They just continue to surprise us that’s for sure!

lol. yeah she is full of surprises. she has had this set up for quite a while and this is the first jail break. i think she may have jumped on top of her diggy box which has usually been right next to the NIC fence. had kicked it out of the way when i ‘rescued’ her from behind the couch. now that she has accomplished the NIC fence breach i will test her skill and see if she can do it again – sans electrical cords of course.

so last night she freaked me out by acting sullen and i was searching through health info for articles / posts on electrocution. oi. had to check her gums to see if they were white (shock) or if her lips / tongue had any dark marks. i’m very lucky to have survived this exam. my chest required extra make-up this morning to conceal my welts. of course she’s just fine and was merely toying with me.

If she were in shock she would be breathing hard and not moving.   I think.   Anyways  umm honey where did those welts come from ?   Uh Pinky you know good n well where they came from.   YOU

Ahh reminds me when Cotton was a youngun  he chewed thru a live cord.  He had a little bit of black burnt hair lol.  He went back to chew it again too.    Persistant.   Not always intelligent but persistant.

Oh that Pinky   I was wondering about her.  I remember the banana incident.

I imagine she could launch of the diggy box then. Maybe cable tie it to her condo? After seeing Neigy scaling those grids – I was totally thinking of Pinky too! lol. If she leant against that side could it slant at an angle managable enough for her to climb? I wonder if her sulking was about being removed from her new hiding spot? She may become very determined at getting back there. Some hard-core bunny proofing may be in order. Funny Girl!

okay… she did it again! when i woke up the other day and wandered into her room there she was sitting on the couch staring at me as if to say ‘yeah i’m on the couch. what? what?’. this time the black NIC fence was pulled away from the couch but i think this happened after she jumped over it judging by how anxious she was to get back to her condo. she practically jumped into my arms when i reached for her – completely uncharacteristic – and then immediately went to eating hay while squatting in her litter.

since then i’ve noticed her staring up at the NIC fence right where it’s against the dresser and where it’s not secured at the top. i think she jumps up there against the top NIC square causing it to fold backwards a bit and then squeezes behind it. little goof. i’m currently trying to mc guiver some way to fasten it securely.

                                  LOL Bad pinky!!!

You could put a layer of cubes at a 90 angle to the ones blocking…so it would be like a “T”-that visual may stop her from leaping?

Or you could just give in to fate and let her on the couch
