hi all. what do you guys think of the size of this NIC condo? i have two holland lops who are quite small.
i plan on making it 4 cubes high.. (reinforcing it, of course!) with about 5 levels. i also plan on making a nice base with linoleum flooring. i'm going to put the base on casters so i can move it a little if i need to.
i can probably squeeze in an extra cube on the left side (there's a TV stand there with a TV on it.. but it can't be pushed to the left much more.. this is a small office room).....but i'd rather not add another cube if i don't have to.
so what do you all think?
each cube is 14 inches.
here are a few pictures so you can get an idea of how big they are.
they're about the length of 1 cube when they stretch out to lay down...
and here is that same corner when they were there in a pen temporarily. i had to switch them out of their old NIC and into a pen because they had not yet been spayed and were making a huge urine and poo mess all over the place. the old NIC has since been taken apart and made into an outside run for them... so time to build a new condo! (the first NIC was amateur anyway.. hehehee)
It probably would be enough room - especially if they get a lot of out time. If you could bring it out into the room a little bit more, it might work better for them. Is it really too much room taken up if you make it a 3x3 instead of flatting the closest wall? What if you make the left and right front sides 2 cubes long and then flatten the corner?
that's a great idea. i COULD make the right and left front sides 2-cubes long with a flattened one in front.
thanks, i'll try it tomorrow
I'm not sure if I understand....
haha...reading back on it I'm not surprised. Always hard to describe without diagrams. Actually I only just grasped what Markbun was describing. His suggestion does seem a good modification without impacting on your floor space. I can imagine it'll be quite cute having them up on level 5 looking down on you while you work. Make sure you post the finished condo!
