We seem to have had a relapse. At least he can pee this time, but we’re back to the unproductive straining, drooling and puking.

Keeping the gas buildup under control with meds, but I don’t like how he looks. Husband wants to try a few more home techniques that they showed us at the vet before we even think of putting him through all that again…which I’m beginning to feel is not going to help, nor raise his quality of life right now.

But once more into the breach….may I ask for healing vibes, please? Maybe it will just be a fleeting moment.

MM, do you know what has caused this in him recently?  Is it related to the GDV?

Sadly, I have to close this post with the notation that we had to take him into the vet to be put down this morning. He was much worse and sitting out in the snow, I presume trying to freeze himself to death because he was so miserable. The doc, upon examination, said in the older dogs of this breed, sometimes their bowels just shut down. We could’ve re-hydrated him again and gone through all this again at the end of the week. It just wasn’t what he needed. There was no cure.
Please see my post “My Heart Has Joined the Thousand” in Support. He is across the bridge now, and much more comfortable I am sure. But our hearts are broken.
Thank you, everyone, for standing by us during this sad time.

oh no that is so sad.  Very heartbreaking.   Sorry this happened MimzMum.  You know you did the right thing for him.   Had to have been hard on him to go thru this situation over n over .  Now he won’t have to anymore.

He is in a good place now   Thank you for helping him.   You have had him for a long time and it was time to go.

                        Oh I am so sorry.
With everything he and your family have been through – you made the right decision. No matter how hard it was to make – he is in a better place now.
                        My thoughts are with you.
