Thanks for your reply.  No he doesn’t use his litter box yet as i only brought him home yesterday morning. So i am just beginning litter training him. He has a large bottle of water which i change twice a day and he drinks from it regularly.

I guess at this point – I don’t think the urine will hurt him but I wouldn’t want him to do this all the time. It’s really just a stress reaction for him at this time since everything is all so new and I’m sure he’s in sensory overload.

Warri does this too… Seems to be a not so uncommon thing

I’d give him at least two more days to make some progress with the litter, drinking water, and settling down. You might soak a bit of a paper towel in his wee and place it in the litter pan so he gets the idea he should go there. Also put a little bit of hay in the corner for him to chew to make the litter pan more appealing. Wash his veggies a lot so he gets water when he eats those too.

I adopted a bun in may and I noticed that he would pee and lick it up as well. He would lick it up off the carpet/blanket if he went on that but he would also sit on top of his phone book, pee, then jump off and lick it up. It was gross but now he never pees outside of the litter box, once he learned. I agree that it is the stress of being somewhere completely new, that seems to be what it was with my new guy.
