We now have a more secure way for people to email each other without revealing your personal emails. You now have your own message center within BB. Just go to profile or hover your mouse over "forum" and choose message center.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!: If you choose to be notifed via your other email that you have a message in your message center, DO NOT REPLY via your personal email because you will just be replying to the notif, not to the original email. (you will notice the notifs will be coming from "noreply@BinkyBunny"). If you reply to that, it will now go into a oblivian (A folder that's deleted daily)
We are working on making the notifs look more like NOTIFS not like original emails to prevent this confusion, but for now, just be sure to reply only within your message center.

Well isn't that the strangest thing?! I was just coming to the Tech forum to post about the new message centre - and found your announcement.
So I think my qu is answered. We can set something to have a notification of msg sent to our normal email?
Edit: Ok, found it. Message Centre under Settings. Cool |

I selected "Notify me by email" I assume that is if you receive a message in your message centre? (Excuse my Aussie spelling) I don't want to have accidently set emails for every post reply in the forums. Another qu. Will there be an email sent to personal address to notify of this new feature? I'm just wondering as those who haven't been at the site for sometime my not check for messages and the notification isn't automatically set. I saw a message yesterday that I hadn't responded to as I didn't realise we had message centre. Normally, I check in email account that I use for this site. Luckily, it was a fairly recent msg and I replied no probs. It just has made me think that those who don't habitually log on wouldn't be aware of messages unless they check the Notify option. |

I tacked this to the top. BB, can you make a copy and post it in the other forums? |

Does the Message Centre have an attachments option? I couldn't find one. |

Petzy - no there is not an attachment option, however there is the exception of the photo insert via the toolbar (the little mountain icon). Jersey - we are planning on sending out a mass email when the message center is completely done. Rght now though we want to see if "regulars" notice any problems. That way it will allow us to fix some problems prior to the mass email notification AND we still have some design perfection to work out. We are getting a "profile and message" software update to hopefully fix all the goofy stuff that is still pending! But in the meantime, because the message center is active now, I just want to make sure people understand how to check their messages and reply within their message centers unless they know the person's email. We have changed the notifs now though to make it more clear that it is actually just a notification so people won't respond directly to it. Rabbitpam - Thank you! I'll also make a copy of this and add it to the lounge with a link to respond about it here only.

Jersey - I forgot to respond to you - yes, that is correct, for you to receive email notifs for your message center inbox. The forum notifs settings are actually in the settings right now. This whole profile, settings and message center will become much clearer and much easier to use (knock on wood) within the next couple of weeks - with our next update. |

I do, but then I'm a forum leader so I would be remiss if I didn't. But I check it daily. |

I think you get a notification if you get an email so I don't check it unless I get notification. |

Is there a reason why it asks for my login when I'm already logged in? (I assume extra security measure?) And can you explain what the signature option is? Is that to put the siggy I have in my posts into any messages I send?

mimzmum - i'm not sure why it asks you to login in again. It doesn't do that with me. Hmmm. Well, maybe that will go away with the update. We are so very behind on that since I had been out of town. Regarding the signature option, it's what you can put in at the bottom of each email message - just like in many regular email systems. |

I often(always?) get that when I click on the Forum Leaders names top of page. A request to log in will come up before I can compose a message even though I'm logged onto the site. I don't kow if anyone else is doing this but I keep nearly replying to the notif instead of going to my message centre to reply. I was thinking maybe an automatic error message could be sent in case you do reply to the notif. How tricky would that be? Or maybe not have the actual email content with the notification message as a foolproof measure for people like me! |

I printed out this thread for techno guru to handle. Now that I am back in town, and this week I can focus back on BinkyBunny, we are planning updates Wednesday and Thursday FINALLY (crossing fingers) and this MIGHT already be changed in the updates. |

Binky, what is the relevance of the latin text in the insert image window preview box? When I go "insert image" to a message I'm composing in the message center, the image preview window displays this latin text. |

Petzy - Latin text is often used as a template/example space holder. I find that not only on our modules, but even on other site thats allow you to build your own site with their template. They just place Latin text there to show you can type text there or an image goes there. This way it's just using "words" as an example without getting confused with "understandable words" from a commonly used language. |

Hmmm I only have "my messages". Is that the same thing? Another member tried to PM me yesterday and it didn't work. |
