        My volunteer, Caite and I went around today to three pet stores, and the shelter.

        1) I fell in love with a dog at the shelter that they won’t let me hold, and won’t tell me when they are neutering him. I talked to every single person I possibly could, and I basically have to call the shelter ever half hour to find out when he’s netuered, so that I can take off of work and sit at their front doors to adopt the dog. I’m really annoyed that I have to go through that since I take ALL their rabbits and ferrets. You’d think they could friggen cut me a break!

        2) Caite talked a store manager into giving up the five bunnies they have, one of which has an abcess on his back, one is pregnant, and three others, and they will not order more or sell any for Easter. So we’re getting five bunnies in here shortly, but the good news is they are all sweet and wonderful, and hopefully we can get them fixed (save the pregnant bunny, who are are naming April – she’s ready to burst).

        Anyways, we got a lot of posters and flyers out but I’m really quite annoyed that Tractor Supply, who insisted they would not sell rabbits- now have 5 little babies bunnies in a tub for $15 each!  I’m so friggen pissed.

        Anyways, Just wanted to vent.

          ARGHH!!!!!  I would be furious too!  The whole Easter “Bunny”  thing….I dread it every year it never ceases to amaze me how many bunnies come flooding into the rescues and shelters just a few months after the holiday.  AMAZINGLY sad.

          And what kind of petstore has abscessed and pregnant rabbits?  That’s ridiculous.

          I hope the dog thing ends up working out!

          Well, at least you got flyers out and that will help make a difference.

          What a day!

          Well, be kind to yourself and try to relax.   A glass of wine and a compfy couch always does the trick for me.

            I also sympathize with your frustration – thats terrible that Tractor Supply has more bunnies for sale. I used to purchase my hay through them but stopped when I saw a bunny for sale at their store.

            That is great though that you were able to convince a store not to get any more bunnies for Easter. This is the hardest time of year for bunnies and it is great that you are making such a difference, so in addition to the wine and the comfy couch, give yourself a pat on the back too

              I also find Easter very frustrating. The pet stores here always stock up on bunnies. It breaks my heart because other than spread the word via posters and word of mouth, there is not much I can do. I never shop at the live pet stores. I’ve even contacted our provincial spca to find out if there were restrictions on the number of animals a pet store can have but there is not. Easter is very bitter sweet for us rabbit advocates.

                OI I totally understand you!
                When I finally talked Dave inot letting me get Rupert (my bunny) from he shelter(After THREE Months of begging him…), he was gone at a showing for two days, they gave me the run around and I had to call in sick for work and wait for them to open the doors hoping he was back fromt he show and not adotped and go through the three hour adoption process YUCK
                I *GET* not holding animals because the person may change their mind-but come on-allow those of us who are serious to pay the full adoption price ahead to hold the animal-clearly we’re serious Grrrrr

                That’s great news about the petstore though-let that temper how you feel-you saved all those bunnies! *hugs*

                  We got our first Easter dump Monday morning, the day after Easter. Grandpa purchased two rabbits for the grandkids as a gift from a petstore, their family did not want them, off to the shelter they go. :-{
