I saw a link to this site on a local rabbit rescue's page.

They do lots of great stuff to protect animals.

There are lots of proposed state senate bills listed by state.  I just completed a form on their site that was submitted to our Arizona senator.  This is the article:

Help protect Arizona’s pets from domestic abuse

Each year throughout Arizona, domestic violence victims risk their lives to protect their defenseless animals from harm. Research has shown that up to 48 percent of battered women remain in abusive homes out of concern for leaving their pets behind. Yet, sadly, Arizona’s current domestic violence law does not address this issue.

Senate Bill 1278 addresses this issue directly. In an effort to stop abusers from harming or threatening to harm companion animals, the bill encourages judges to include the animals in domestic violence protective orders. A protective order is a legal order issued by a court that requires one person to stop harming, stay away from and/or cease contact with another person or, in the case of this bill, that person's pets as well.

We owe it to the countless domestic violence survivors throughout Arizona to get SB 1278 passed.

Let's give our animals a voice EVERYWHERE (not just in Arizona)!

I know that members of this forum live all over the U.S. (and outside of it) and I thought you all might find it to be a worthwhile site.  It always makes me feel good to think that I can make a difference.
