i got this rabbit at a pet shop because he has behavioral problems (not neutered yet) and i told myself and my mom that i would take him in,get him snipped, litter train him, then get him adopted out. he makes me laugh so hard because of his boundless energy but he gets into stuff and digs stuff around all the time tears stuff up and makes a HUGE mess. how do i not get attached to him? i already have a male bunny (who has told me that he "likes being alone right now thank you very much!")

I don't know how anyone doesn't get attached. With my fosters I always get attached I just have to tell myself that I am giving them a safe, happy place to stay and helping them get to the point where they can find a wonderful forever home. It's hard when they leave, but it makes me happy that they have a family to call their own

Can your mom be his primary caregiver? Maybe if you weren't the one doing the daily care, you would be a little bit more "removed" from him?

It is impossible to NOT get attached. But, just think "he will go to a happy home and it is better for me and my bunny if he does" - I won't say you probably won't cry when you rehome him (I always do!) but as long as you think of what is best for you and your bun and in the end the new little guy, it's worth it and a little easier. Think of it like pet sitting someone elses rabbit for them.

I think it's good to be attached to him. I get attached to my foster buns all the time and it is really hard to see them leave to another home, but you want to be a positive influence on the bunny and becoming 'attached' is so much better than being aloof I think. Fostering is so hard, and any one that can do it without shedding tears or feeling sad at the parting is a machine. Keep up the good work, but buy some tissues :-) I always need tissues when I send one off.

I pretty much get attached to every animal that comes in, some more than others. It's always tempting to keep them, but I figure there will always be other rabbits like that one and there will always been one or two that steals my heart. If I kept them all then I couldn't save others, so that's what drives me, the desire to be able to take more in and help them out.
