        Hi,

I have an 8 month old female rabbit who I need to find a home for.  It’s been a hard decision, but one that is inevitable.  I have had a change in employment and am unable to care for her the way she should be cared for.  She’s pretty reliable with her litterbox and gets along well with the other animals in the house (dog and cat), but she does get nervous when people she doesn’t know approach her.  I am not willing to give her to just anyone, but at the same time I need to find her a home in the near future… I’ve contacted quite a few rescues, but most are full.  If anyone is able to help, I would greatly appreciate it…

Where are you located? Is it because of less time you can spend with her that you are thinking of parting with her?

Wow! What a beauty! I wonder if there isn’t a way for you to keep her. What exactly is the reason you want to give her up?

I’m in Nazareth, PA but I’d be willing to travel a distance to get her to a better home. It’s a combination of time and finances. I feel as though she is being neglected and I can’t seem to change that because of the situation I’m living under- and I don’t know how long this is going to carry on. She needs better than what she is getting.

I cannot know your situation exactly but I urge you to consider keeping her. Many rabbit owners (and people in general) during these times go through changes that impact their ability to care for their pets.
As far as the time is concerned, rabbits do not need attention during the daytime. They sleep many hours during the day. If you can just make time for her in the evenings it should suffice. She will get used to this new routine. She is your rabbit. They can live ten or more years. It is a given that there will be changes and tough times. You even posted that you don’t know for how long you’ll be in this situation, and at the end, you might wish you had kept her.
I wonder if you can find ways to aleviate financial stress as it pertains to your rabbit; you could switch feeds, cut back on veggies in place of more hay. You could get hay from a horse farm for five dollars a bale. And when things improve you can go back to spoiling her more.
Alternatively, you could contact your local chapter of the House Rabbit Society to get help there. maybe you could find a foster home for her to tide her over until you are better off.
Please consider it at least. I was in a similar situation with a dog once but I kept her because who else would have cared about her the way I did?
                What iis your rabbit’s name?

I agree with Petzy. I know that right now you may be feeling guilty because you do not feel she is getting enough attention. However that will not always be the case.

The problem with trying to find her a new home as well is that you just won’t really know what type of situation the new home may be as well.

I think it’s natural for us to feel guilty that we don’t have the time we would like to spend with our beloved rabbits but at least we know they are well cared for and that really does say alot.
