My family goes camping and has a huge cook out every Memorial Day weekend. Since home is a few hours away from where I’m living, Felony came with me. He’s a camping fool. My father, being the spectacular man that he is, put up a chicken wire pen about 6′ by 7′ for Felony to run around in. According to my father, "He’s part of the family so he should be outside with us." He loved it, although I had a near heart attack. The fence was over 4′ high, and I placed his cage inside so that his litterbox, hay bin, and water bottle would all be there and he wouldn’t be super confused. He jumped up on his cage top, which he does all the time, and the pen fence was still over 2′ high. He can barely walk on the top of his cage because his feet slide in the wire, but he made the jump. He was hanging from his front paws on the top of the chicken wire, tetering back and forth. My family said they had never seen me move so fast. I grabbed him off the fence and plopped him down inside pen on the grass. Needless to say we placed a net over the section where his cage was for the rest of the weekend…I don’t know what he was thinking. He’s much too pampered of a bun to enjoy the wild for long. He would miss his air conditioning and freeze dried organic banana chips.

I wanted to take a picture of the set up my dad made (he even had an umbrella on one side because for about 3 hours of the day there wasn’t any shade in the spot he picked) but I didn’t have a camera.

Besides the near run away, it was a great weekend, and Felony is quite the camper.
