I know it’s a bit early, but what are you planning on doing for  your bunny babies for Christmas / Hannukah / Kwanzaa (or whatever holiday it is you choose to celebrate)?

I’m thinking about making a GIANT cardboard bunny castle out of lots and lots of boxes for my bun Flops. Since she isn’t afraid of some height and adores and exploring lots of nooks, crannies and passage ways, I’m hoping to make a big bunny-safe bungalow. Anyone had experience with this? If you do, any advice or pictures?

I also want to get her one of those extra-large litter boxes, since the one she has now is big but not big enough for her to stretch out in. I think that’d be luxurious =).

I’m still at a loss for what I will be getting Seamus, since he’s such a contented, down-to-earth and not-too-picky little fellow. Perhaps a wicker tent or one of those wicker tubes… I never got one of those for him before because they’re a bit expensive and he’s just as happy with a paper bag. I dunno, I’ll be on the lookout.

        Share your ideas! =D

what i want to know is why i’m so concerned about what to get my bunnies when i cant even decide what to get by human nearest and dearest…! i’m thinking of trying an internet site i found that sells different types of hay, they do a ‘selection’ basket that looks great with small bags of lots of types (the stores here only sell very limited produce). i also thought i’d treat them to a special bunny-advent calendar, where in the pockets instead of chocolate or whatever they get a treat (a piece of carrot or a willow-stick etc), this is of course more for my benefit than theirs….! i’m saving the ‘big’ present for when at least 2 of them are bonded, i’m planning to convert my raised flower-bed into a run-type thing (since Lollo has eaten all the herbs i planted last year..) so they can play safely together and dig too, since under the soil there is concrete so they cant make the great escape! its about 3 metres long and 1 wide so could be quite cool; but they’ll have to wait until the spring at least cos i aint doing DIY in the rain/pitch black! it’ll probably be more like an Easter present!

We haven’t discussed Christmas prezzies for Sable yet.  We always got something for our cat, but cat stuff was easier to find.  I think I like the idea of collecting a bunch of the computer boxes from work and building him a condo to play in.  Of course, the best location for it would be where we usually put the tree so I’ll have to sweet talk dh into putting the tree elsewhere if I want it there

Oooh, lovely ideas. That bunny advent calendar sounds like so much fun! And the selection basket of hay sounds wonderful! I can imagine a little bun jumping for joy and diving right in to enjoy the mixed goodies. And the bunny-run converted flower bed– so ambitious! Your buns will think it divine…even if they have to wait a little longer it’ll be worth it. =)

Aww, Sable would enjoy a condo! Judging from that picture of him on the couch, I bet he’s not afraid of a little height!

We usually have bunny stockings filled with goodies.   Some home-made, some bought.  The home-made ones are usually toilet paper rolls filled with hay – but with little treats buried inside. You can do the same with a paper bag – but I usually use a hole punch and punch holes in the bag to help release the smell of the treat inside.

Boxes and tubes are another favorite.  I get those cardboard tubes made for cement pouring at home depot or Lowes, and the bunnies love ’em.

our local rescue does all kinds of neat holiday fundraisers – so I generally buy them lots of toys to help benefit the rescue.
