Bindi and Olivia feel like dressing up and having a costume contest. How about your buns?
Before we get started, I need a volunteer Score Keeper who doesn't plan on entering his/her bunny(ies) in the contest. This person will be in charge of receiving and tallying up votes, as well as giving scores to the bunnies of any Judges that enter. Score Keepers will have to be available to tally entries Saturday, October 27.
I also need 4 judges. I will be Judge #1. Who can I sign up for #2, #3, #4 and #5? Judges can enter the contest but cannot vote for their own bunnies. The Score Keeper will vote for Judges' bunnies, to keep things fair. Judging date will be Saturday, October 27, so you have to be available. Any volunteers for Judges?
RULES:
There will be a First, Second and Third Place. This contest is just for fun. Bunny slaves will be responsible for providing treats/prizes to the winning bunnies.
Contest Runs from Friday, October 5 to Friday, October 26. Pictures can be entered between these dates only. Voting will be Saturday, October 27 and Winners will be announced Sunday, October 28.
There will be 2 Categories:
- Real Costumes
- Photoshop Costumes
Voting will be on a 5 Binky System with 5 Binkies being the highest vote. Judges will consider the following in their score:
- Overall Costume
- Originality
- Picture Quality
One entry per bunny. One picture per entry and all entries must include: Bunnies Name and Costume Description
Costumes can be home-made or store bought. I want to see originality and adorableness.
SAFETY FIRST: Please keep safety in mind and use common-sense. If you don't think your bunny will tolerate a costume, you can just use accessories or props. Or enter the Photoshop Costume Category. Do not leave any bunny unsupervised in a costume. If you do decide to use a costume, take a quick picture and then undress immediately. This is supposed to be fun so we don't want any buns getting hurt or upset.

I volunteer to be a judge! I don't have a bunny yet, though I'm getting one in the future, and it's the holidays right now, so I've plenty of free time on my hands and I can't even enter a bunny! Can I please be judge 2? x |

Judge #2- bunnygirl98
Judge#3- tanlover14
Judge #4- Skipper'sMama
Judge #5- peppypoo
Now we just need a Score Keeper. I would do it but since I'm entering my buns, I don't want anyone to think I cheated if one of them wins. I plan on them having super awesome costumes BTW.
I'm gonna leave it up to you all whether we should allow photoshop. I'm fine either way. It might be a good idea for those who can't dress up their buns. You guys decide and fight it out.

I think photoshop should only be allowed to be used for touching up the photo -- not adding a whole costume to the bunny or such. Some people don't have photoshop or programs like that (or know how to use them) so I think it may be a little unfair if you could actually put a whole outfit on your bun via photoshop? Can you even do that? I'm not sure -- I have it but really have no idea how to do anything on it. |

shoot I had the best costume idea if we allowed photoshop but I can see where others would not want it. Now to find mini wig... I'm thinking about being scorekeeper. As much as I want pics of Bunjamin dressed up, I don't think he will really approve nor do I have the time to make a costume. I'm suppose to be getting myself one but I don't have time for that either! |

First, Yea! It's that time again and thank you, LPT for starting this! I'd like to make a suggestion regarding Photoshop. We have been known to discourage dressing bunnies in costumes in the past due to the difficulties that can arise that could lead to potential health risks, which some of you have already alluded to here. If your bunny is ok with it, dress them only for as long as it takes to get the picture and get it on and off gently so they don't struggle much. But many of us wouldn't dare try it with our Squirmy the Wormy Bunnies. How about 2 Main Categories? 1st one is photos only. Bunnies in costume and natural, not photo-retouched, settings. You set it up, you shoot it, you deal with the stink eye coming your way. 2nd one is Photoshop entries only. Can be other photo software, not just photoshop, but it's a basic pix of an undressed bunny (how immodest!) with photo touches, settings, costumes, all added artificially. These are the bunnies on broomsticks, etc. That way, your bunny may never see how you've embarrassed them unless they know the password to your laptop or iphone. Whaddaya think, LPT? |

LPT, you have the best ideas! Where did you find that cute cartoon heading this thread? We don't really do Halloween here so this is fun for me. Though I'm really not sure what passes as a Halloween costume... It's dress up as anything right? Lol @zoologist, I vote yes for your idea. That sounds fun. I was thinking somewhat similar to RP that people could post a photoshop entry thats not an official entered photo. But I do like RabbitPams idea to create a special competiton category for it as its more inclusive. So both people who can't dress up there rabbit can participate and people who don't have photo editing software or skills can participate. Like!

I'm glad you are all enthusiastic about this! I'm excited too. I know what Bindi will be but still thinking about Olivia's options. Yes, Jersey, you can dress up as anything for Halloween.
Okay, so Peppy will be our Score Keeper and Frankie Flash will be Judge #5.
I really like Pam's idea about a second category for Photoshop pics. I like the idea of people who can't dress up their bunnies having the option but I don't think it's fair to have photoshopped pics compete against real pics, so that settles that. I will update the rules.
I'm going to say that the only photoshopping allowed for the first category will be basic editing like brightness and cropping. No adding anything, changing the colours of the pictures or anything like that. No adding photoshopped backgrounds.
For the Real Costume Category, you can use creative backgrounds and props to enhance your bunnies costume.
I have spoken! |

LPT! 'I have spoken' that put a smile on my face! So the photoshop/editing category cannot be full blown edits, with added pumpkins and witches hats? Just basic editing? And the real competition is of course normal photographs? I'm a bit confused? |

Blue had BETTER cooperate -- although, Idk if I can be an honest judge with BLUEEEE in the competition! Hahaha, just kidding... but for real, Blue had better cooperate. I'm not sure if any of my brats will cooperate but I'm going to think of SOMETHING. I'm horrible at photo shopping so I'll have to find SOMETHING creative for my buns. Even if I do get them in some sort of decoration I highly doubt they'd sit long enough for me to take a picture.... I just might have to work on my photo shop skills all this month! And... I'm horribly NOT creative so I have no ideas or even directions yet... Crap! <-- This is the reason why I'm being judge. |

JG, we think alike. I suggested to LPT already that the posts be a separate post for entries, and it link back here for comments about them. Or something like that. Basically, to keep the pix together for the judges and not just start it on page 5 of this thread, where we will be soon judging from the enthusiastic response. |

Here's an excellent example of the 1st category.
It is a bunny (Bindi Loo) in costume, with a suitable prop and a studio-style backdrop.
I know it's the wrong holiday, but I think this look of Disapproval is suitably scary for Halloween.

I also have an example of the Photoshop Category. Should I load it up here, or save it for the Contest? |

I'm really glad we decided on the Photoshop option so everyone can enter. Just a note, though, for the Real Costume Category, you don't need a full outfit, even just a little hat propped on bunnie's head can be considered a costume. Just a reminder to keep safety in mind. If you don't think your bun will tolerate something, it's not worth risking it. Holidays should be fun for bunnies too. |

I'm going to start a new Lounge Thread called "HALLOWEEN COSTUME ENTRIES". This is where all entries must be posted. Please do not comment in that thread. It's for entries only.
Take all your "Squees' and "OMG that's adorable's" and post them back in this thread. This is just to keep things easier for the Judges to vote on the photos.
If you have any questions about the contest, you can post them here.
FOR JUDGES:
Just so everyone is clear. On Saturday, October 27, the Judges will look at all the photos and give them a score from 1 to 5 Binkies. 5 being the highest vote. Voting is the same for both Costume and Photoshop Categories. Take into consideration the effort, originality and photo quality in your decision. Then send a PM to Peppy Poo, the Score Keeper, with each bunnie's score. (keep your votes confidential). She will then tally them all up and figure out a winner.
If any of the Judges have questions, they can PM me.
Looking forward to the entries.

It wasn't possible to make the subject line a different color or even bold, but I put the word ENTRIES in caps, and I added the excited face emoticon, which seemed to replace the thumbtack symbol even though the thread is still pinned to the top. So maybe it's easier to find it now? |

One entry per bunny. One picture per entry and all entries must include: Bunnies Name and Costume Description Question: Do the buns have to be still living or can we enter pics of our rainbow buns? |

Okay I might have missed this since I haven't been on in like over 24 hours lol but are we judging photoshop entries and costume entries seperately? If so can people enter the same bun into each category? |

What do you guys think? Can bunnies be entered into both categories? I'm fine either way, so it will be majority rules here. Give your opinion.
FrankieFlash- Yes, both categories will be judged separately, since it's not really fair to compare the two.
SirThumpsey- Yes, feel free to enter your Bridge Bunnies.
This is a pretty easy-going contest. All in the name of fun and getting our bunnies into the Halloween holiday spirit. |

I'll vote that it's OK. Put it this way, if you're doing a costume, I'd encourage you to have fun with it afterward with photo retouching and putting it in the PS category. But if you're starting in PS Category, I don't think I'd recommend you go out and buy a vampire cloak to start wrestling with your little devil. And WHERE are the entries? Hmmm? At least in PS Contest. I mean, it's not like you guys don't have any pix of your bunnies already! |

TL they said yes to rainbow buns. The whole one bun, two seperate contest entries for the different categories was left to group vote. I vote yes but I'm biased since I only have one bun as of now. |

I don't care. But I do think if you are entering a bun if both categories you can not win a spot in both categories. It would have to be one or the other so that everyone has a fair shot at placing. |

Yes Skippers mama! If we judge the el natural competition entries first, and say...FF places, then we judge the photoshop competition, FF's entry would be ignored. Because it gives you more chance of winning by entering both competitions, but we want to give everyone a fair game. Nice idea! x |

Some of the bunnies have been reading this, and disagree. They, and I mean ChaCha, Olivia, Vivian and Samantha, think that there should be a Grand Supreme Ruler title for one bunny in all categories. (I made the mistake of letting Samantha stay up to watch Toddlers in Tiaras last week and she has been making trouble ever since. She thinks those costumes will fit her. Plus she made a call to Maybelline to be an eyeliner spokeswoman.) Now, I don't want to hijack this important thread with a "discussion" of Toddlers and Tiaras. Let me just say that I told Sammy the virtues of sharing, she agreed to have only one winner per category, and is now pouting under her basket. I believe she is plotting my demise....... |

Hahaha RP! That hilarious! I do think that we should figure out which photo to discount after all scoring is done though. Let's say I entered Skipper and she got high enough scores to get third in the Costume and second in the PS, I think we should take the highest score that the bun got and reward them that title and then give another bun the other title. (I promise I'm not being arrogant and saying that my bun will get high scores. I just did not want to use someone else's bun as an example and make them mad. I'll be lucky if Skipper decides to cooperate. ;P) |

I think we should just keep it simple and score individually, if someone wins first in both categories it's simply because they had killer pics or editing skills We're all adults here right? |

for the scorekeeper's sake I agree with S&L's hooman. But I also am okay with either. Maybe we should let peppy decide since she is the one tallying the votes and would have to do the configuration if a bun placed high in both. Andy won't let me try the costume right now. He says the Bunjamin has had a crazy couple of days (traveling twice- thurs and fri night, and yesterday we cleaned and rearranged his room during nap time... bad hoomans I know). So it might have to wait until next weekend I don't think I can get it on him and snap photos real quick. It's a two man job. lol |

OMG Finn is adorable. I took pictures of Bunjamin in his costume yesterday. It took a lot of willow and treats to get him to not footflick away from me :/ This might be Bunjamin's one and only costume shoot. lol Now sweets on the other hand would probably cooperate a lot more I'll get his pictures up soon. I gotta resize it and stuff so it will actually load on BB. |

heheh I have outtakes too! I love the one where he is yawning! And the "no I will not turn around" makes me giggle.
I was the holder (and BIG meanie for our photoshoot where Andy got to hide behind the camera)

I was rubbing his ears keeping him calm.

Squeeee!!!! I was so excited to see that there were new entries!!!
Fin makes a very cute little pumpkin!!! I bet he smelled like pumpkin afterwards!!! And Bunjamin the HotDog!!! That is really too much. The disapproval was at a very high level!!! I hope they both got treats afterwards.
And Zombie Remmy- Weird to see a cute bunny turned so creepy!!!
Don't forget to post the name and costume description with your entry.
And I really enjoyed the out-takes!!! By all means, keep posting out-takes!!!
I'm still working on the Diva's costume. When I'm finished I will do the pics of her and Bindi and post. |

If I actually get my act together, I think I'm going to go for a "obviously home made" look. Sorry for the time stamp on my pics. I couldn't figure out how to get the stupid thing off.
Bindi Loo Outakes:
Bindi's pics were taken on a rainy day, I wish I would have had better lighting. I wasn't willing to dress him up again for another try. He was a good boy, I didn't want to push it.

Olivia was not a very happy camper. She gave me a sound pummeling after the photo shoot. She showed no appreciation to the fact that I designed and hand sewed her costume. It took a good while to make. Dang rabbits. Don't appreciate nothing. She looked so pretty though. She's the Queen of my Heart!
I love the fitting evil look in this one and how she's holding the wand

Oh, my! That fourth outtake of Bindi Loo is hysterical!!! I love how his loppy ears actually look like front "legs" for the elephant, and they make it seem like he's a very grumpy elephant, too, the way they're straight down at his side in a gesture of pure frustration.

Anyone with a white uppy-earred rabbit could easily do a Rabbit of Caerbannog entry. |

AHHHH -- this means I have to come up with something quickly! I've been soooo slacking and dragging on this (although, I have definitely been watching the updates!). I'm going to be thinking about what to do with them the whole time I'm at work tonight. |

LBJ10- Yes, till the end of Friday wherever you are.
Judges: Saturday please send your results to PeppyPoo via Inbox. Vote each entry from 1 to 5 Binkies based on Originaly, Overall costume and Picture Quality.
Peppy will tally up the votes and then let us know who the winners are. Thanks for being our score keeper Peppy.
We also need you to vote for my bunnies and FrankieFlash's bunny. If you don't have time you can ask someone else to vote (RabbitPam?). We know you're busy so whenever you get time to tally up the votes and announce a winner. |

Okay so Leopold's hair piece looks sort of drawn on in the picture. It is actually a piece of silly craft foam I cut out and placed on his head. Just so you know. LOL |

Photoshopped Winners:
There was a 3 way tie between the next three:

Real Photo Winners:
According to Peppy, all the results were very close! They were all great entries. Thank you humans and bunnies for participating.
I hope you had fun! Everyone give their buns a special Halloween treat!

Awww, thanks! We had so much fun. I was so surprised that Hodari didn't try to tear up any of my props, especially having a paper background, knowing how much fun Hodari has ripping up paper and everything in her path. Lol. The only thing she did was take one of the candy corn embellishments off the dump truck; but when I told her to leave it alone, she did. I hope we get to do this again next Halloween. I've already got a costume in mind. Congrats to everybun! |

I loved the face of the bunny in the ladybug costume. It was Not happy! lol |
