        ^^^ tongue-twister there… lol

you know… the ones that cats can claw and climb on.  does anyone have these for their buns?  or do you have a cat, but your bunny uses it too?  i’ve been thinking about getting a small one for Meadow to jump and play on… but it’s carpeted so i’m worried she may chew at it.  she’s not real bad with the floor carpeting… but is this just an invitation to chew?  thoughts?  did you try it?  did it work or no?

Well, I have the carpeted cats ones that are round with the whole in them so the rabbit can sit inside or on top. Yes, it’s an invitation to chew on the carpet and cardboard and everything else but I have yet to have them ingest it – they just dig in it and I’ve used these for many of my rabbits. Right now most of my rabbits that I have housed in the Leith Petwerk condos have one and they really love them. It’s a great place to hide and sit on top of. If I could find an alternative as good as this without carpet I’m sure I would buy it but I haven’t found anything comparable. Will your bun ingest it, I cannot say for sure, but I have had no problems with mine and I have been using them for years and years and years.

Whoa that is a tongue-twister! I’ve had a few of the carpet cat castles (Pricey things!) for my buns and they enjoyed them thoroughly, but like Sarita said, you need to watch out to make sure that the carpet isn’t injested as it might cause an impaction/GI stasis as it may form a ball an not pass through (blockage). How has Meadow been with carpet?

she pulls out threads occasionally, but she always drops them back down.  i haven’t seen her actually chewing them up.  we know a guy who makes his own cat castles for pretty cheap… so i was going to design one with a few doorways and a couple perches thruout.  just thought i’d get feedback on if that’s a good idea or not.

My bunnies chewed but did not digest, but for some reason they peed all over the top of it – maybe the top part reminded them of their litterbox, and it just became a Messy Stinky Smelly Carpeted Cat Castle. (double trouble tongue twister)

I was thinking about getting one of those for Thumper but wanted to wait till he stopped peeing everywhere. Now that he is pretty much always going in his litter, I might have to find one for him. He doesn’t chew up carpet, yet and I hope he’ll stay like that.

Even if your bunny is litterbox trained – they may pee on the top to “claim” their new house. I made a wooden version of the cotton tail cottage, and my bunnies used the top of it as their litterbox as well – even though they were 100% litterbox trained. I have no IDEA what it is about the top floors of things, but maybe they get up there and are too lazy to go back downstairs to their litterbox?

That is so interesting! The thought has crossed my mind to get one of those
things also….hmmmm not sure I am down with the whole stinky mess part of it…

I’ve never had my buns pee on theirs and they do love to climb inside their cave and on top of their mountain LOL.

It sounds like a lot of fun for bunnies – maybe I will try one with one of my bunnies that did NOT pee on the wooden house Did you end up getting one Beka?

no we didn’t get one yet.  like i said, Mike’s friend makes them and i want to draw up plans for the way i want it to be.  we also don’t have a lot of space right now until we rearrange stuff a bit.  we’ll get it sometime this year, i’m sure.
