Pine is a no no unless its a pellet form.

I use carefresh, its quite nice. Any kind of paper based bedding would be fine, or a woodstove pellet with no accelerants.

Pine shaving have dangerous aromatic oils and phenols that can cause major damage to little bunny respiratory systems, and livers. Just say no to pine shavings

I’ve heard great things about care fresh as well as horse stall pellets which is what I use. Works great!

My two buns I’ve tried Carefresh with thought it was a tasty snack.

If you have a feed store around you I suggest you go there and pick up some horse stall pellets. Not only is is cheap but it absorbs really well and I can’t ever smell my bunnies with it. Really a great bedding. I love it!

I use kaytee clean and fresh and my bun doesn’t eat it o: I do out tons of hay on top though. I also tried the horse stall pellets, and I like them better but they’re kinda hard to find around me.

Just checking – what are you using the bedding for? Litter box or to cover the bottom of the cage?

You do not need bedding anywhere except in a litter box. It can confuse them with litter training otherwise

Personally I use carefresh and it works for me, but I know that the shelter where I board my buns uses shredded newspaper and swear by it.

I’ve read stories of care fresh causing stasis, so I would not use it if your bun eats it at all.

I use equine pellets, or wood stove pellets. Cheap, and work brilliantly.

I use Carefresh – from time to time Lola will nibble on it and I freaked out the first time I saw her doing it but it has never caused her any problems. I guess it might for a rabbit with tummy issues…. but I think most buns are weird some times and just like to explore things with their mouth and will nibble on anything from time to time (string hanging off the pillow? one stray fiber in the carpet hanging out? immediate licks and nibbles!)

I refuse to use the Kaytee stuff (the white tissue-y paper shredded stuff). It is AWFUL – it has this static cling effect and I still find pieces of it from time to time even though I only bought it once and that was back in April. She would fling it out of her litter box with her feet when she jumped out of her box and it would get tracked everywhere…

Cupcake loves her Carefresh litter….but Dizzie gets shredded paper (because apparently to her, Carefresh = yum!!) I have to clean Dizzie’s litter box twice a day, but she doesnt eat the paper, so its fine with me
