I need your opinions on this setup for the 2 male rabbits. BTW this setup is for the first couple of days, I will add more things that they need when they get here. It may seem small but its bigger when u see it in person and they will have a lot of out time. What’s inside the cage/pen is a tube to go through, a pillow pet for comfort. a digging box for fun, 2 places to sleep and get comfty and 1 mini teddy bear. I will add litter boxes and food and etc when they get here. Give honest opinions plz

That pen is WAY to small for to small for a rabbit! Especially two rabbits! A minimum for two rabbits is a 4×4 or 8×8 pen Not a 2×2. Could you extend it?

Actually, it looks like those are bigger NIC cubes (I’m looking at the shoe box to cube ratio)….in which case I think it looks perfect! They look like they have plenty of room to hop around and play.

bmt87: Your right, they do seem bigger then a NIC cube. What is the detentions of the cage? Its hard to tell from the picture.

It was an 18 W x 18 H in. pen but it looked to small so I decided to move it around and change it up but this is how it’s supposed to look like

This is originally a pen for guinea pigs and other small animals. It has 6 panels and changed it up to look up this

I don’t know the exact measurements of it but it’s not like I’m gonna keep them in there all day. And this is just for the first couple of months and i would like to make it bigger but idk how

                  Hi Tatiana,

I think once you have your rabbits and their litter boxes and everything else they need in there, you might find there’s not much space for them to do much more than lay around. If you’re letting them out most of the day, then maybe you don’t need much more space, it’s really your judgement call. But, if you’re looking for ways to extend the space you can use an exercise pen which come in a variety of dimensions and can be manipulated in whatever shape best suits your room layout, the exercise pens also made easily portable which may or may not be a benefit to you (it is to me).

Many other users on here use NIC Cubes with zip ties to design rabbit condos, but these could also very easily be added to your current design to extend the space.

                  Best of Luck!

I’m going to throw in my two cents as well: it looks under the recommend size for bun (especially two). Buns should be able to hop 4-5x minimum, without stopping in their space. I can’t tell from the pics but where will their food, water, and litter box go? It looks like there won’t be room for those. Have you considered getting rid of the pet pillow? Some buns really don’t care for pet beds, ect. Your best best however, is to get more NIC cubes. Youtube has some awesome building your own condo videos, I especially recommend BudgetBunny’s video. If a condo is not possible, them I really suggest a Xpen to expand space.

Okay, thanks guys. When they get here it will be easier for me to see what to change up and how to expand. Thanks for your help

                        Hi .

This may look like a silly question ,but I’ve had this doubt for decades so.. here it goes:

X-pens are measured in panels or in square feet????

                        Thank you

Not a silly question at all!  It can be confusing!

When talking about NIC grid condos, people usually refer to panels.  Standard NIC grids are 14 inches, so a “3×2” is actually 42×28 inches, slightly more than 3×2 feet.

When talking about Xpens (using dog exercise pens), people usually refer to feet.  An xpen panel is 2 feet, and when configured in a square, the pen is 2×2 panels, or 4×4 feet.

                            Oh , right….

Thank you I was so confused , but in that case I think that x-pen is fine for two rabbits
