After I bond Twig and Spelda I want to have both live in Speldas cage because it fits almost perfectly under my bed so it saves a lot of space. The pen is only 4′ by 6.5′. The rabbits will be free run 24/7 after they are bonded. Also I rabbit proofed my porch but I have a big tree that has pine needles but it is a hardwood tree and a Pepper tree that hand over the fence so I get the dead needles and leaves on my porch. Would it be safe if the rabbits ate some of them or should I not let them out there?

You have the cage under your bed? That does not sound like a good place for a cage in my opinion – it must be way to short for them to stretch their legs and under the bed is usually dark and not much air circulation for a cage….maybe they don’t need a cage at all since they are free roam anyway.

Not sure about the porch – I guess one of my concerns would be that it is shaded enough. Not sure about the needles and such.

You should only allow your rabbits to eat pine cones/needles if you know they are pesticide free. To ensure this, you can collect a bunch of pine cones and soak them in lemon juice for about 30minutes then put them in the oven at 300 degree heat for about ten. This way they are disinfected, dry, and safe for your rabbits to consume.

If the pine cones/needles have sap on them, that would not be good for your bunnies to eat. You could always to a quick sweep of the porch before you let them out, but I’m sure one or two nibbles wouldn’t kill them
