I actually haven't! I still have cubes from when my guinea pigs had something similar. How do you make it multiple stories? This might actually save space!

I agree, going up instead of out is a great idea for limited space.

There are lots of different "how to's" on the web about how to make different kinds of homes. with lemony, ours was a work in progress. we built the basic structure (with grids)) around his purple cage (i think we have the same one). we wanted to keep the cage because he seemed attached to it. since he likes to jump on top of his cage, we made this a part of it as well, putting grass mats over the top of it so he didn't hurt his little feet. our third level just consists of a roost made of the grids. on the bottom of that we put a towel and another mat. he can jump from the top of his cage onto the roost - he seems to like it a lot. the roost is right by the head level of our bed, and he likes to sleep up there. i like to think he likes to be closer to us.

we also took lots of trips to home depot just to "browse." It was at this point that i decided on the grids - there are only so many times you can walk up and down those isles, and it's not like we have a garage filled with tools in our studio apartment to construct a mega monster cage. but lems likes his - i think it's just right for now.

We separated out the posts from the Q&A and Lounge several months ago because the advice and ideas were so good, and specific, that it made it easier to find them in their own forum. Just browse the titles of the posts, but also go into them to read the suggestions. some members have very specific details that will help you construct the one you want.

Also, if you find a photo of one you especially like, you can email the member here by looking up their User name and clicking it to get to their profile and send them a personal message. Or look through their posts to see if they talk about how they made it.

The grids are nice. I saw that they can get expensive for a larger taller cage. You can also check craigslist.com. I have seen a lot of the ferret multi level cages and that would be nice for a bun too and save space. You may be able to find one cheaper too!

A word on the grids: some of them have different square sizes so be aware of that. Some people even found packs with 2 different sizes in them. If you had grids for piggies, I imagine they are the small grid size and so suitable for rabbits too.

Yes, Target now only has boxes with both grid sizes. I had to buy 2 boxes to get enough of the 9 hole grids that I needed.
