  My bunny has been shedding A LOT lately. So i keep on having to clean his cage more often. So I am wondering if this is a normal thing. When do bunnies shed the most?

  Yes it’s normal. Rabbits go through a molt about four times a year. Two heavy, and two light molts. Usually a bunny’s first molt is very heavy. Most bunnies are going through a molt right now. (of course it can depend on the weather too!)
  
  During a heavy molt, it is a good idea to brush them once a day (but be gentle as their skin is sensitive) so they don’t digest so much hair. They can’t cough up hair like cats can.
  
  Also, make sure they have a high fiber diet as that’s what’s needed to process the hair through their system. So lots of hay!

  Sophie is molting now too that the sun is out, although we did just get snow earlier this week!
  
  I use a small bristled dog brush on her. She loves it and moves her butt all around and starts licking me. They are not hard bristles, although they are metal but tipped with plastic. I just skim it over her and it holds the fur. Also, they’ve got those grooming gloves which are awesome. They are literally gloves, so your bunny thinks she’s just getting pet but it holds the fur with static electricity until you pick it off the glove.

  2 out of my 3 are doing a heavy molt rigt now. Curly Sue (Rex) has gaping holes in her fur where the winter fur has already fallen out, DJ has holes around each shoulder. Deanna is not shedding that much right now.

  i think it depends on the bunny, as far as when the heavst molt is. sophie’s is right now!

  Jack and Rucy are finishing up their heavy molt, and Bailey is in the middle of hers. Sometimes theirs actually stops in the middle and starts up again a week later. I think it’s because this Northern California weather can go between warm and cold extremes rather quikly in the spring. Then they do it again in the late fall – October.
  
  So for our household – the heavy molts happen in April & October, but I do find that most of the bunnies at the rabbit rescue, saveabunny, also go through it at the same time.

  well, "omi" is shedding too…
  aaaaannnndddd, i trimmed his fur…
  is that bad for him???
  is his fur gonna grow back???
  im worried now…
