As I reported in the Q&A section, Jessica, one of therapy girls gave birth last weekend.  All 5 babies died by Weds. night.   I brought Jessica back to work today.  I let her loose in the classroom today w/ her "sister" bun, Oreo Cookie.

Ms. Cookie completely attacked Jessica.  I’m such an idiot!!!!  She did so well w/ the cats at home that I wasn’t thinking about "bunny sense".  Jessica got 2 huge punctures on her inner thigh, 2 giant nail marks on her torso, and several smaller puncture marks around her neck.  She had to be anesthetized to receive stiches on the thigh punctures!  They shaved her at the hospital and I was just in tears.  She got pummelled by Oreo and it was basically my fault.

So after dealing w/ more beauracratic crap w/ getting her care financially approved, my husband and I decided to pay the bill and keep her as our house bunny w/ our 4 cats.  The vet felt that it could take months for her to get back together w/ Oreo and even then they should continue to be housed separately.  After having just bought a giant cage for the 2 girls, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

B/t the babies and the attack, Jessica and I have been through a real whirlwind!  Please send all bunny love to Jessica right now.  We still have to stave off infections.  I’m planning on eventually using her in outpatient individual therapy sessions once she’s healed, emotionally and physically.

Oh. Poor Jessica. Don’t beat yourself up though. You’re doing the best thing for her now, you’re giving her a loving home and a chance to recuperate. Bunny hugs!

Get well Jessica! And Skunk, don’t feel bad about it! You didn’t know that bunny relationships are a bit tricky! But if you are patient enough and if you keep the,m apart for now you will be greatly awarded when you will have bonded bunnies!

Gentle hugs to you and Jessica.  I was sorry to hear of the loss of the litter, and now this.  I’m glad you’ve decided to keep her at home with you.    Don’t beat yourself up over it, she may bounce back much quicker than you expect.

Awe poor Jessica, sending healing vibes x

I have two ‘sisters’ that didn’t along for a while after reaching sexual maturity and it was horrible to see them fight.  You are doing the very best for Jessica now by taking her home to rest and recouperate.  Don’t give yourself a hard time, bunny relationships can be complex, but give them time and who knows they may still get along in the future.

We still have to keep a close eye on our buns when they are out together, but its getting better.  I even managed to nip to the loo while they were out together the other day which was a big step x

I hope Jessica will heal and be feeling better soon. The whole thing sounds very overwhelming – so please don’t forget that we’re all here if you have any questions, ok?
